It seems that the 8890's audio doesn't support the sound tests in 3dmark03?

Or am I missing something?

Thanks...I'll give that a try when I get home.

to make 3dmark 2001 work with DX9 you just have to install the update (build 330) and it works.

Hey Januaryman,

I seem to have the same problem with the 60-sound test in 3DMark 2003 (patch 330). The first 2 soundtests work fine, but the third one is automaticly greyed out. I am using the latest soundrivers from the Realtek website.
Is this the same for everybody or are some people able to run the last soundtest with their 8890?
if i remember i could only run 2 sound tests. but for some reason the first test will run but with no sound. the second test works with sound. never knew there was a third test.

For some strange reason the 1st soundtest is a NO-SOUND test in 3DMark.
After installing the latest Realtek drivers, now 2 of the 3 the sound tests work (except for the 60), and I also noticed that in the first "sound" test there is no sound... WTF? That dosn't make any sense to me.

I was expecting that my benchmark score would go up (due to the fact that I could run 'more' of the tests), but it didn't change.

Benchmark Results for 5680

I just ran my new 5680 through 3dsmark2003, ver 330.

Sager 5680-
3.2 ghz P4 800 fsb, HT enabled
Radeon 9600 Pro 128 MB DDR
1024 MB 400 DDR Dual Channel Ram
No overclocking attempted

I'm using the patched drivers off of sager's site.

Score: 2981

Using Powerstrip, I upped the 8890's M10 engine clock to 418 and the memory to 310, and scored 3571 on 3DMark03 and 12,007 on 3DMark2001SE.

Computer has been running stable, games are running fine. It makes one wonder how far can we push the M10?

Is your puter noticibly warmer? I'm a bit leary about OCing it, as it has been giving out awsome performance in almost everything.

The only thing that has run at all slow on my 5680 is Halo - but from what I have heard it runs slow on everybody's computer.
(Including Radeon 9800 desktops)

There is a command line switch you can pass the game that forces it to use 1.0 or 1.1 pixel shaders instead of 2.0, which boosts the frame rate by a huge amount, but it still slows down slightly during gun fights and that’s at 1024x768. I would _love_ to play it smooth at 1600x1200, and I'm a bit disappointed that I can’t - though it’s obviously the game, not the hardware. I mean UT2003 runs great at 1600x1200, and you could sit here and argue all day about which one has better graphics...

But would OCing really improve that? With all the positive results people have been posting about it, maybe I'll give it a shot, unless anybody already has?

The 8890 is not running hot, the adapter nor the computer run noticibly warm during gaming even when OC'd. Note that I have my laptop elevated somewhat on a stand that I bought for it at Best Buy, so it is properly ventilated.

Just received my 8890 today and gave it a run thru 3dmark 2003.

Score 3018

My system details listed below.

I got 3385 OC's to 417 and 274. With the latest drivers. I cant remember exactly, but I think the cat 3.8's gave me a higher score.
You mean the difference between the 8887 and the 8890 is 900 vs 3000?!? WOW
post #119 of 125
3DMark03 with my 5680: ~2700 on battery ( 3.0 GHz ) will test it with the AC later on.
almost 3000 with the AC plugged in.
