Just Kidding... Hehehe.

Cheers.

Mu ha ha ha

I wanted to say something to that effect but I held it back

Still - its interesting...

More than anything else its his 9700 Radeon that made the difference

Professor seems to forget we all have the Radeon 9000 mobile chip. In any case - if he is happy so are we..

Hey guys, I am having trouble running 3dmark 2003 on my 8887. 2dmark 2001se works fine and I score between 7200 and 7300. So I know I have installed drivers correctly. So this is the problem: The first test runs well, then the second test runs at no more than 10 fps, usually around 5-6. Then before the third test can start the program crashes. My desktops resolution is bumbed up to something really low and all the colors are messed up. I reboot, then everythings normal. Whats the deal? I am going to reinstall 3dmark03 now. I will report back.

ok, i uninstalled and reinstalled but to no avail. someone please help me.

Ensure this...

Hi,

This might help.

Install DX9.0 from the microsoft server.
Install the newest drivers from s-seven.net

(Be advised that I am not certain if you can use these drivers with the 128M9 - they should work because the hardware is essentially the same)

Look around to find drivers for ATI cards that use 128MB of DDR. But try the s-seven.net 6292 or the 6255 drivers. Try both and see which gives you the desired results.

This should make things work.

But oh - make sure you go to the ATI control panel (after installing drivers) and switch off "Wait for Vertical Sync" and reduce the detail levels in OpenGL and Direct3D to "Quality".

Let me know if this works...

Best of luck

radeon 9000 64mb
dvd+-rw drive
xp home
6307 drivers from s-seven

my 3dmark03 score was 1124, all default settings....

sorry to throw a score from a sony in the mix, but i'm really interested in any performance discussions regarding the mobility 9000, so please don't me

has anyone else tried the new drivers from s-seven...could that be the reason my score actually made it to 1100?
I have seen 8887 scores around that with the cataylst 3.2 drivers and control panel pack.
Good scores for a lappy.
I am using the catylst 3.2 deally now. Be right back with the score.
EDIT : I just ran it for a 1078 on battery power. I dont know if I'm underclocking my battery or not, but whatever the default BIOS option for this is I am running.

1078 on battery ???

Hee hee

Have you ever felt you were getting crappy battery life?? No wonder - I'll bet your CPU is not set for throttling while on battery - better get this fixed in the BIOS - set it to 50% for max batt life...
I purposely let my CPU go full-bore (100%) when on battery just to speed up the drain - I usually only am on battery-only to condition it prior to recharging.

same here

It calls for a lot of planning - when I know I will not be needing the battery and when I have a full nights worth of charging time, I run full bore and let the battery drain completely before I let it charge up again...

In fact its early in the day and i'm doing exactly this
post #74 of 125

With the latest video drivers from Sagers website, I got 1067 unoverclocked. and no, im not going to try overclocking.. so test it yourself

Do this...

Make sure there are no other processes running on your system at the same time you test.

Clean your registry

If you didnt install the OS yourself - Do it again and do the drivers from scratch.

Always restart before each test...

lemme know how it goes...

1059 and 1061 on 3dMark03. Cat3.2 and DX9. Guess I should feel lucky. Getting better everyday performance now that I've shut off or removed most of the SysTray apps (InDVD, SoundMgr, NeroCheck, etc.) and disabled MukAfee.

Just for reference:

1320 on 3dmark 2003 with my desktop. P4-2.0ghz GF4 Ti 4200 128MB. 512 meg DDR PC2100.

I haven't gotten it to run on my 8887 yet. It crashes after the 3rd test. I'm going to install the latest drivers and see if that helps.

Kpk..
