3dmark2003 - Page 5

Ummm.. I got pleasant results with my laptop. Any ideas why so good?

8887 2.4ghz

256mb memory
ATI 9000 128MB
The latest drivers on s-seven.net

I got a 3dmark 2003 of 1111. That seems high considering I have a slower processor.

CPU speed does not affect the 3DMark scores
post #83 of 125
It should I'd think.. since I got a very noticeable frame rate increase when I upgraded my desktop from 1.6ghz to 2.0ghz. It wasn't 30% or anything.. but maybe 15 or 20%.

CPU speeds...

CPU speeds between 2.4 and 2.8GHZ doesnt make much difference to your performance...

It all depends on MIPS of the CPU which is more for the 2.X Ghz range of CPU's than for the 1.6Ghz Range...Its hardware optimization and it also depends on the instruction set for each CPU.

This is why you see better performance in your jump from
1.6 -> 2.0.

You will not see as much a jump between 2.0 and 2.8Ghz...

I think im going to be sick

listen, when I boguht my current desktop almost 3 yrs ago it was the best thing since sliced bread. I got the fastest processor and loads of ram the specs are:

amd athlon 1.1 ghz (not sure of bus speed)
640 mb pc133 ram
60 gb 7200rpm wd hdd
secondary 80gb 7200rpm wd hdd
sound blaster audigy (best sound card known when i got it)

my computer just got a 117 on the 3dmark score. Wtf is that! I hope I am supposed to multiply by 10 or something. PLease somebody tell me my pc is not that much of a joke. The thing cost me gobs of money when i first got it

Well, does your video card support DirectX 9?

I think the biggest things in 3dMark 2003 are DX9 support, a reasonably modern CPU, and a fast DX9 supported graphics card.

I got an 800 with my specs, except the graphics card I have right now is a Geforce FX 5200. I will be returning it promptly, IT SUCKS! Gonna get a Radeon 9600, they are more in the range of 2000 or so 3dmarks.

so it happens to be my old geforce mx2 w/ 32 mb ram that failed me. Is there another test that i can get like 2000+ on so i can feel good?

The exact error reads as follow:
"3dmark2001 se needs directx 8.1 and proper drivers installed in order to run.

Install Microsoft directx 8.1 and try again.

The cause of the error and your system info have been written into an error log file: C:\program files\madonion.com\3dmark2001 se\error.log

Please go to www.madonion.com/support and read the 3dmark2001se section to find out how to get support on the issue."

I never actually looked up support because I am too lazy. If you have a quick fix then I'll try it. If not, dont bother because I know my pc really sucks.

Maybe its not the drivers lacking DirectX 8.1 support, maybe the card doesn't support it. It could be an older DX 7 card perhaps.

Go to Start\Run and enter DXDIAG. The first tab (System) should tell you what version of DirectX you have installed.

That is very possible as some directx games i have say that my directx 9.0b is too old. I think it may be because my card does not recognize 9.0b. mrmsyvc, I did that and I do have 9.0b.

I think I read somewhere that you get the above error sometimes if you don't have the latest build (320 or 330 I believe) of the 3dMark programs.
