So, it seems it should be at least possible, then.

They exist at all yet? (runs off to google)

Not that I need one, rather two, now but curious because I didn't think there were in existence yet. 945 supports that natively though yes?

Ok well Q2 06 Infineon at least will make 667 2gb SODIMMs for notebooks with 4-4-4 timings it appears (not positive on the timings was having a hard time loading the pages properly)

So if that works in the 945 then yep there is the 4gb limit And that's one thing off the list.

Now I'm starting to look forward to Wednesday

Well we will see what comes dowm the pipe. In the meantime, I got me an XPS2 with an "outdated" 7800GTX and an E1705 here that I will just have to live with for a couple of years... Whatever shall I do?

Seriously though, been playing the upgrade game on lappies for a couple of years. You can drive yourself nuts with this stuff. I will say a DX10 card is interesting, but heck, we don't even have Vista yet. Best guess?

Dell is into profit maximization. The new 1710 will be identical to this E1705 except for Gigabit Ethernet, the black casing and lights and the tripped out vid card. (Oh, and XPS "support" )

Also, we will probably be able to mod the bios and do the 9 cell battery 130 watt psu trick again for the simple fact that as a community we represent a small portion of Dell's business so they are unlikely to make it that difficult for the mod to happen again.

It will be interesting for sure. One thing though. 4 GB right NOW? Who cares?? Games are unlikely to need the 4 GB limit for a couple of years and I am unlikely to use a laptop as a server. Still cool I guess if you are willing to drop a ton per stick for memory to have 4 GB.

Yeah, G80 anv Vista would be nice, but it'll be at least a year or more until that platform matures. And we don't really have games that support them yet. I'm not too worried at the moment.

Hmm, I'm showing my n00bness I presume. Care to explain/give a link?

And if you wonder why I'm looking into upgrading, check my sig...

Inspiron 8200 from June 2002, P4-M @ 1.8GHz, 512Mb RAM, 60Gb/4200RPM HD, GeForce4 440 Go

And this is why you'll want DX10 and a G80...

Sorry guys, but I heard that the new GPU coming in two days is the 7600, non-GT.
Hmm... well, I think that would be faster than a x1400 (maybe?) ....
so good times...

The Go7900 will be released on March 22.

The 7600 has been out. They released the 7600 for the desktop recently.

Yay, now maybe E1705/i9400 owners can upgrade to 7900!!!!!!!

To drop in on this....the 7600 is NOT it, its the 7900GTX

Please ignore any other info you are, as it is false. Expect releases on Wednesday...

Just passing on information from another board, nothing concrete. I'd be happy to be wrong though, as my 7800go is not very overclockable at all! I can only get up to 370ish core, and can't even crack 800 on my memory.

Note that there's a countdown timer at www.nvidia.com... So at least something is going to be released tomorrow!

Actually, this is rather disappointing:

So do you guys think that dell will put some 7900go on the 9400/1705 that are waiting in line for a graphics card?
