Acer Ferrari 4000, problem with pc3200 RAM fixed !!!

Here the solution to use a64 tweaker at startup without CPU freeze:

1. Open a64tweaker

2. In the menu "File", click on "Apply settings at startup"

3. Go to a64 tweaker folder, and replace the file "startup.a64" with the new one that you can download at this link: http://www.badongo.com/file.php?file...kersetting.rar

In this RAR archive there are two files: one set your RAM at 200MHz and another one at 183MHz (if you overclock the bus with clockgen, you can use this).

4. Reboot your machine, and your RAM will work at 200MHz (you can verified with CPU-Z).

Hey robgeb, you happen to still have this RAR file?

It's no longer on the badongo site.

Sorry Sarc

Download it from here: http://rapidshare.de/files/20991626/...iming.zip.html

There are 2 files.
One overclock ram at 183MHz (useful if you overclock the Turion with clockgen), and the other file overclock ram at 200MHz (and disable 2T timing, with a great performance boost),

You have to set a64 tweaker at startup, and then you have to replace the original file startup.a64 in the main directory of a64 tweaker with the new one I attach to this post.

At the end you can use a64 tweaker at startup without any freeze on your ferrrari.

It's very very useful.

bye

Hi all, it's few years later, but .. does anybody still have that file linked above?? All links does not exist anymore. My Ferrari 4005 and OCZ 3200 are able to run only 183 MHz, on 200 MHz freezes . Does anybody know, where is the problem? Anybody could still post that "startup.A64" file from robgeb PLEASE????

I am afraid that the file itself is pretty much history. The laptop OC'ing might be a thing in the past with the tweaker tool.

You might want to search under SysTool?

cheers ...

Yeah man, I guess so too, but stil I would be really happy to know, why my 4005 is not able to run OCZ 3200 at 200 MHz. I just bought new memories for lot of money.

SysTool? What is it?

some "safe" twealing tool.

Your ram modules might having issue with compatibility, or is it that your comp cannot stretch to use the 200mhz? Check and see if you have any BIOS updates in this area.

cheers ...

Thank You .. Thing are like this: My new ram DDR 400 from OCZ are exactly the same like many users uses here in the exactly same Ferrari 4005 . Everything should be compatible and working, but ..

I have already set my RAM cycles and everything exactly like I found somewhere on the internet to OC Ferrari 4005 with the exactly same memories like they tested and post that screenshot. They used A64Tweaker V0.31 and it worked for them, but not for me . ONLY I KNOW IS DIFFERENT, THEIR COMPUTER DIVIDED THE FREQUENCY BY 10, BUT MY STILL DIVIDED IT BY 9, 11, 12 BUT NEVER BY 10??? That's what I don't understand.

I have also tried many other options how to make it work, but the computer still freezes. I make it only for 183 MHz, but not 200 .. and it should be ok

I just also flash my bios with the latest update, but still the same .. I WOULD LIKE TO DOWNLOAD THAT RAR POSTED ABOVE (not available anymore).

Here is the file that was referenced in the 3rd post.

Was surprised that I still have it.

Just some FYI based on my personal experience with my 4005.

I never had any luck getting A64Tweaker to apply the settings at boot without the system freezing.

For a while, I did have good luck loading the A64Tweaker config file from a command line as a "Service".

Having A64Tweaker load my specific config file as a service was a pretty involved process in and of itself. I stumbled upon a guide that explained how to load virtually any program as a service and applied it to A64Tweaker.

Good luck. I still love my Ferrari 4005, but am disgusted when a "HQ" YouTube video maxes out the CPU.

Oooh, thak You very much Sarc! I am really appreciated.

I will try and will see. I just really fast checked those setings in posted files, and they are almost the same I had till now (but just at 183 MHz). I have already tried yours settings on my machine before I left to work today, but computer freezed, as usual . Also after the loging in.

BUT, really good suggestion you wrote with that runnung A64Tweaker as a "service". I will try it, as i read how to do that.

My thought is, that these OCZ 3200 memories are not so good for Ferrari 4005, I guess they need little bit higher voltage, or they are unstable like this freezing. (as I bought my OCZs, there was a sticky label on each of the modul, where 2,6 V was written, but the company advertice in tech. spec. 2,5 V. Strange for me).

Once again Sacr, big THANKs, I will write here later, if I made it or not!

You may be right about the voltage thing, personally not sure didn't look into it very much, also, not much we can do about it giving the laptop's BIOS limitations.

I will say that I had figured out some of the quirks of using A64Tweaker early on with this laptop.

Keep in mind that clicking the "Set" button when the CPU is under load seems to cause a hard freeze, guaranteed. Wait till your system is completely booted up before clicking the "Set" button.
This in and of itself may be why loading the A64Tweaker config file as a service was so successful, hardly any processor load. Either that or there is a incompatibility with the way the Turion64 CPU impliments it's throttle control. ???
This reason alone is why I have AMD's Power Monitor load at start-up. I can watch the CPU usage and wait for it to bottom out before I click the "Set" button.

I've included the A64Tweaker config file that I actually use.
To the best of my knowledge and within the settings that I actually understand , I tried to match them exactly to what the OCZ modules would require when running at 200MHz.
This config will still freeze the system if applied at the wrong time on my system.

BTW, I am using A64Tweaker version 0.31.

Best of luck.

Hello Sarc,

thank You very much for your help with files and suggestions. Any of these setting just don't work at my Ferrari 4005. The settings in files you uploaded here are almost the same I already tried many many times and I tried each of the parameters to set up steb by steb, but .. don't work at 200 MHz.

I haven't tried it as service yet, but I will not try it probably until i make it to run with any settings for 200MHz directly from Windows. I still guess, that problem is in my PC motherboard, that just cannot handle it or in OCZ modules. My seller just started to sell Corsair modules this month , so that's pitty I have already bought these OCZs. Hm, nevermind, 183 MHz and less timings are still better than 166 .
