Sentia 223 Modem disappeared?

I have a sentia 223 and my modem just stoped working. Somehow it isn't even in the device manager, and if I reinstall the drivers it doesn't recognize that I even have a modem(56k). Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Specs:
1.8 Centrino
1GB Ram
7200RPM HD
DVD Burner

Also, is there a way to pop it open without voiding the warranty?

If 'twere me, I'd just back up an' reformat, see what happens after, or call the techies an' have it all be on their bill.

I'm not sure if this applies to you, but I had a similar problem with my old Dell. I accidently disabled the modem in BIOS, and then windows had no idea there was even a modem installed.
Maybe take a little peek to see if you may have done the same. If not, I think you'll be calling AW soon

if bios, or os-reinstall = nogo, then its hardware and ur f'd.....hope u got warranty(send it in) otherwise its dead 4 good, usually modem is integrated on lappie MB so no quick replacement.

Another thing is try like knoppix, see if it works then, thatll help u trublshoot/

Thanks. I really do not have the time to reformat anytime soon, so I am looking for other options. I don't really use my modem that often anyways, I have DSL at work. It would be easier to just buy a card for my PCMI slot.

Just to be sure, you have nothing in device manager that shows up as "other device", right?

Do what Archalien suggests with Knoppix. It does not require a reformat of the OS.

Knoppix is a free download.

Boot into Knoppix and run Linux from CD without installing. It's a good method to test your problem.

Get a wireless card and you can connect almost everywhere.

I just looked at my laptop and realized that i have a modem. Never knew it was even there. LOL

What's up Archalien!?! I have to talk to you about PHP forums for my website.

I will try Knoppix tonight and come back with the results. I really only get a chance to post once a day, so thanks for your patience.

I have the DVD version of Knoppix and was able to boot into linux with no problems but how do I find out if my modem is functioning or if it even finds it? I have had only limited experience with Linux.
