Touchpad Stops Working

Thread Starter
My touchpad will quit working if I stop using it for more than 30 seconds. After considerable tapping of keys it sometimes returns to use. If I plug in a mouse, it works fine but will periodically stop working until I right click or scroll the wheel a few times. Whenever everything is working it works fine. I just can't step away from the computer. I have removed the Elantech drivers and tried running off XP drivers and the same thing happens. Any ideas?

For the record, I have the 5720-V

This is answer that I found at http://ubuntuforums.org/ and it solved this problem:

Hi,

Regarding the touchpad not working on an Acer 5100, please try the following:

Press 'Fn' and 'F7' keys together and this should alternate between turning the touchpad on and off.

Cheers,

Dan
