Sager NP5720 or Dell XPS M170?

My company is purchasing a new laptop for me to travel with. It is going to be used for demonstrating a graphically demanding training simulator project to potential customers.

I have the choice of going with a Sager NP5720 or with a Dell XPS M170. Either way the machine will be optioned out with a 2.26GHz Pentium M CPU, Go 7800GTX, 2GB of RAM and a 7200Rpm 80GB hard drive.

I was originally going with the Dell but I have been seeing a lot of good reviews on the Sager. I’m looking for some opinions on which one I should go with.

Get the Sager.

I have to say go with the sager for 2 reasons.
1) It is a little cheaper, I know your work is buying it but it still looks good to save the company money.
2) Sager looks much more professional than the dell with all its lights and if you are gonna be doing demonstrations to customers you will want to look like a professional not a gaming geek.

Krassh, Pharoke,

Thanks for the responses. I’m mainly interested in the reliability/quality and fast replacement if something goes wrong with the machine. I’m also impressed with the fact that PCTorque will let me order the Sager without an O.S. installed. I want to install it my self without all the usual “bloatware” that most PC manufacturers seem to like to install with their machines.

From what I have read Luke at PCT is very quick to help customers quickly and reliably.

sager will be more professional

if you are worried about the reliability and response time of fixing a laptop, then there is no question ... go with the dell. With completeCare and onsite warrenties, it will get fixed asap ... whereas with Sager you will be waiting for it to ship, get fixed and then ship back.

I agree, the SAGER looks much more professional, but when it comes down to reliability, i still say Dell.

I owned a sager 5720, and within a month it died abruptly with no signs of failure. I could have waited 1-2 weeks for it to get fixed, but i simply decided to return it and get rid of the headache.

Both machines will be very fast ... good luck with your selection.

if battery life is importnt for you, get the dell.thedell has close to 4 hours battery life while the sager is struggling with getting 3 hours (most people get 2-2 1/2)

BUT if this is not so important to you, get that sager baby!
