i tried it, but mediadirect got confused.. I lost my WinMCE restore partition, so i had to install regular XPpro.. Since i didn't have MCE or dell media experience (or whatever there business is), it didn't know what to do..

I held the play button and the POST splash said dell media experience or something, instead of the normal dell in big bold blue, but then the computer booted to windows and gave me an error saying somethign along the lines of unable to find dell media experience..

I suppose it will "kind of" work will MCE or dell media experience, but not exactly.. E1705's come with a seperate partition to boot into for playing movies and whatnot (so i've been told..).. without that partition, it has to boot to windows.. Maybe somebody could create an image of the media direct partition and share it with us..

So, I wouldn't doubt that you guys can install the second partition on the 9300. Would be surprised in fact if you couldn't somehow. But do the 9300s have this:

Didn't think so.

And yes, I know my camera sucks badly...

hey zimm, what happens when you hold the play button on your E1705 with the computer off? with th 9300's, it starts everything up.. Just curious to see whether or not the play button starts everythign for you, despite having the fancy mediadirect button

Having a connection and boot rom on the motherboard to start the MediaDirect on a 9300 is... how do you say... "non-existant"??
