I have now had an indepth play with lots of things and have come up with a few great tweaks to try on an Alienware area51m laptop!!!
Firstly: goto this URL and follow the instructions http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/supertweaks.htm
Secondly: unless playing a game over the net, turn off the wireless card.
thirdly: make sure all unneccessary programs are stopped ie, antivirus and security etc etc.
Fourth: powerstrip settings that worked: Engine Clock 418.00 MHz Memory Clock 241.00 MHz.
Before doing any of this I got a score using 3dmark (latest build) of 2512.
I now get a score of 3077.
Try it...it definately works!!!!
