Anyone know how to get rid of PC Angel (Recovery Partition)?

I am wondering if anyone has successfully and cleanly gotten rid of the Recovery Partition protected by PC Angel on their Gateway laptops? I have already created my Recovery CD set, and would like to get rid of the recovery partition and reclaim those hard drive space. I did a google search, but can't find anything about uninstall PC Angel. Would appreciate any advice or suggestion anyone may have.

Thanks for the response. So that worked well for you? That sounds like a straight forward solution. I am just wondering if there are leftover crap hidden in the registry or the OS partition.

the only real side effect is that when the recovery partition's boot manager (which gives you the F11 option to start recovery or whatever) is active it rearranges the partition order (so it treats the recovery partition as partition #2 when its actually partition #1), which can cause confusion when installing additional Windows installations and the multi-OS Windows loader takes over as boot manager. editing the BOOT.INI to change orders fixes that problem, you may want to add a second line in your BOOT.INI to look at the other partition for boot as well before you do it just in case

oh, and check out this, its a free partition manager http://visopsys.org/partlogic/

Is there anyway to get rid of the PC Angel boot loader and use the native Windows XP boot loader? The F11 thingy is exactly what I am worried about.

that (how to instlal the recovery console) should do it. add it then remove it (you dont need to do all that mumbo jumbo it says int he step for removing to get to the file, you just need to go into System Properties -> Advanced -> Startup and Recovery Settings and theres a button on that page to edit BOOT.ini)

Anancoda thanks very much for all the pointers. Will try it out when I get a chance and will report back the result.

the following link may be useful if your concern is just the F11 option or the removal or PC angel:

I got rid of mine by deleting the recovery partition and expanding the other OS partition to use all of the space. Windows XP won't boot in this state because of boot.ini is now wrong, etc. But put the recovery disk back in and now there is a new option. That is to reinstall (fresh) without a recovery partition. It also installs just Windows and no crapware. Works very well and no F11 thing either. This must be a big secret as you just don't see this information on the web or anywhere.
