Do I still need a paging file?

Is it necessary with 3GB of RAM on XP Pro? If so, should it still be set at 150% of RAM size? Typical gamer and web surf use.

I have 2gb of ram on my i9300 w/ xp pro sp2 and run with no paging file. Everything runs fine. Unless you are doing some extreme video editing where all that RAM will be used by applications, you should be able to run w/out the paging file. Why not just try it out? The most damage it could do is a bsod.
