PCTorque vs Discountlaptops (which one)

So...I'm getting a Sager 5720. Thing is, I dunno which site to get it off of. I've heard more about PCTorque than Discountlaptops, but PCTorque currently shows they have all LCD screens out of stock. Would that delay shipping at all, and would getting it from discount laptops be cheaper?

I've checked prices on both, and they are both exactly the same. However, I also want an extended warrenty on it, and from what I've seen, discount laptops doesn't offer any. So I'm kinda leaning towards PCT.

Any input?

go with pct.....there are others out there as well, but pct seems to as good a choice or better than any other. plus this is their forum and if you had problems, they are right here to talk to.

i had the same question when i first looked at the 5720. I went w/ pcTorque for 2 reasons:

1 - Better prices
2 - This HUUUGE forum, its good when you have this many people to talk to if something goes wrong.

PCT

I live in TX and ended up paying sales tax, but the price difference - particularly with the extended warranty - made up for it. I don't see that discountlaptops even offers an extended warranty, and Sager & PowerNotebooks wanted $450+ for 3yr - PCT 3yr was $150. And the fact that the PCT guys are active here on the boards was a big plus.

I ordered my 9750 2 days after they showed "out-of-stock" and still received it within a week. [of course, that's no guarantee that yours won't take 3 months ]

I don't know why they are still showing as "out-of-stock"; maybe those screens are just trickling in.

I purchased 2 lappies from Discount laptops. I first bought a 4780 from them because it was cheaper and recently bought a 5710 from them which was basically the same price at both PCT & DL but DL had the option that allowed me to get 1 gig chip of ram instead of 2 512 chips PCT offered. DL does offer an extended warranty for 1 or 2 years up to 3 months before the standard warranty expires. You can purchase multiple or (combine the plans) extended warranties up to 4 years. DL does have a forum it doesn't have the traffic that this forum has but you can ask questions and they've helped me. I'm not saying where to buy it because I have never purchased from PCT I'm just trying to give you some facts about DL.

there was a huge thread on this a while ago and it turned out DC, Pctorque, and powernotebooks were all good places to buy from

I never tried discount laptops yet.
I did try PC Torque. Here's my experience thus far:
  1. The PC Torque people are VERY nice and willing to help when you get a hold of them on the phone.
  2. They're are OK once they *choose* to answer your email queries. This can be very frustrating.
  3. Sometimes if you escalate an issue to this forum they may step in and do something about your problem. This is a plus for PCT.
  4. PCT's extended warranties are perhaps a sore point worth investigating (Especially for future international customers).

bought all of my sagers from p*rtablez, very good experience, fast, helpful etc. but so is pct. porta*lez was just a good bit cheaper at the time, what made a diff, since we bought a truckload of them.

I guess an inbiased opinion of this topic is all PCT,DL, Powernotebooks are all quality retailers and if you buy from anyone and you get good service than stick with them.
