Is no one Interested in the TravelMate 4200?

I'm suprised that not many people are talking about the super inexpensive Acer 4200 with T2300. Seems to be the least expensive way of getting duo core. It also seems to be a great machine for a Photoshop / Web Content creation. At around $1000, a duo Centrino, 1gb ram, 100gb hard drive, dual dvd burner, yadda yadda... Looks to be a great machine for the price.

Besides the graphics card (which I don't care about. No 3D or video editing here), is there anything about this notebook that I should be aware of that is a minus? How is the screen compared to others? I know it's not the lightest, but it's better than my 9lbs+ right now

Well, this one, as well as many Acers are out the window for me. The screens on many of these Acer notebooks including the 4200 are terrible. I've heard of brightness being a problem, but this isn't it. It's subtle details that vary depending on even a slight change in your verticle viewng angle. Goto the start menu with this notebook and look at the fonts. The lower parts of the screen, the font weight looks too thin. In other words, the whole surface of the screen isn't equally viewed, regardless of what angle. I need to have consistancy (pardon the spelling) across the whole display. I swear this is the exact same display as on the HP line I was looking at. (DV1000) minus the gloss screen.

It seems like the lower priced notebooks with great specs have the cheap displays. And then there's the Sony's that have an awesome display with underpowered hardware. Toshiba would be good if their computers would actually last.

Darn it! The wait continues....
