I didn't, I just tested it without dilute it first.

and now 1:1, no paint coming off at all, but I don't know if it's stronger enough to remove your stains:

Yeah you could say that... replaced with a Clevo M560A (link in top sig). The keyboard kinda sucks... sound leaves something to be desired... however the screen is awesome.

Hmm...laptop was ment to be used to do work. Not to watch porn and get your hand all dirty to stain it....

LoL!

It happens to all laptops with painted wristrests...
my M6Ne (Z70 series) has discolouration on the palm rest... my Z63A has been okay, but that's because I don't often rest my wrist down when typing (it's bad for you!)

Apply your sweat hands to the spots that are not stained, so everything will look normal

I have an IBM A21m with over 5 years of use. I had a Dell Latitude CPi with over 6 years of use. They are both working fine with no stains under my sweaty palms. I have seen colleagues with many many laptops (Toshibas, Acers, Dells etc) with no stains at all on their laptops. I am disgusted with this Z63a with just about 3months' use and got really ugly stains and getting worse with each more day of use.

If ASUS notebooks were that easy got discoloration or stains, this would be my last ASUS notebook. It shatters my respect for any ASUS laptops of any quality.

You can't say Asus notebooks are bad because of one bad experience with YOUR sweaty palms. Not everyone has had this problem because they make sure their hands are clean before using their laptops.

Also, I believe this happens because of the materials they use. The materials are "NICER" for lack of a better word. Like expensive furniture or clothes being a bit more delicate.

Also those other laptop palm rests didn't stain because of the colors. IBM palmrests are BLACK, you wouldn't notice any stains, and Dells, Acers, etc use straight out PLASTIC, while your Asus Z63A uses a different kind of plastic mixed with other materials to give it that shine and strength.

You know you could just order a BLACK palmrest for your Z63A and you'll be happy forever, no stains. People over at www.notebookreview.com have been doing this.

So you are saying that because of a simple stain on the palmrest due to your greasy hands you say Asus is horrible? You're willing to trade all the positives of an Asus for an inferior product like Dell, Acer because they don't stain?

Wow, you need to get your head checked.

Cheers,
Mike

I have to disagree, for a 'high quality' brand like Asus, reports of stains so quickly definitely reduces that perception in my book. And I know in the Asus forums you guys like to bash the other brands but I really find it unwarranted. Honestly I feel quite a bit of fanboyism here.

If the Z63a's uber special material is susceptible to stains so easily then it's a engineering problem and Asus shouldn't have used the material in the first place. Same deal if it's the particular paint or painting process they used. And it's contradictory to say that Asus has stronger chassis and better build quality in part because of the better materials used and then say the material is "Like expensive furniture or clothes being a bit more delicate."

Also, Asus have a reputation for being quite stylish, having them stain is certainly a dealbreaker for someone looking to buy a good looking laptop.

I tried everything, alcohol etc. The stains are permanent and getting bigger. Eventually, I hope the stain will cover the whole palmrest area and become a black palmrest!

Keep in mind they're not "stains" per se... rather, it's paint/coating on the palmrest coming off.

Stains? Discoloration? Paint/coating coming off? Whatever you call it, to me with such a defect is a substandard product.

My firend's Dell D400 is quite good after some 2 years of use and I had use it for about 3 weeks. My next laptop will surely be a Dell! No more ASUS for me!

just remove the palm rest and paint it, or before the problem starts just apply a clear coat of laquer or something...
Just for the record, my Sager 4080 is black, and I've had the stains since I started using it. I think it is some mild corrosion, and I imagine it is because of a particular type of plastic being used. Labelling such a deficiency a high quality delicacy is at best a bad salesman's tactic. After all, high quality should mean durability.

Why notebook manufacturers havent picked up on this deficiency and rather resumed using non-stain plastics - including the keyboard - beats me. Id recommend changing the palmrest if possible. Repainting or applying a clear coat will just make the problem come back.

I am a very picky person and just bought a used Z63a from someone on Ebay. My Z63a has the "stains" from the prior owner. I agree it is merely the paint or surface coating just rubbing off. I must say, that such a minor issue (I cannot even call it a problem) to become the reason to consider such a fine well-made computer as sub-standard seems to show a missed perception of what the item really is. If it bothers you that much, I will be happy to take it off your greasy sweaty grimy hands for a modest fee. Just to take you out of your misery of course (I am a very caring guy)

This would be similar to complain about a fine automobile because because of a minor cosmetic issue.
Gotta get back to the important things in life now,
