I need to know the video card temperature ... can you post the result here?
Thanks in advance

This has been posted in several other threads, but here it is again.

If I let Dell control the fans, the GPU will max out at 82C, and then the fans kick in and bring it down to 60-70C.

If I manually control the fans with i9kfangui, then the GPU idles at around 54C with the fans on slow, or as low as 50C with the fans on max.

i'm new to notebooks and temp is usually not a problem for my pc anyways, how do i check temp on my e1705 and how do i control the fans? also where can i get a program that shows stats on desktop, i've seen them here

I get the exact same results as dillbert:

~54 w. i9kfangui on slow
~50 w. i9kfangui on fast

I just got a notebook cooler (Bytech NC-500) and am extremely dissapointed. I only see a difference of maybe 1 degree, and that is when the system sits on the cooler w/o the fans on. With the fans on, the temperature read on my CPU is the exact same as before I even had the cooler.

Also, the fans are certainly louder than the notebook fans. I am going to RMA it probably and send it back to newegg. Is there anything better out there other than just keeping the notebook off the desktop surface? I might as well just build a stand myself to keep it off the desk instead of propping it up like I have. What have you guys found that works?

I would recommend the lapinator:
www.lapinator.com/

review with quantitative analysis:

(I have no experience with this on a 17in laptop, but I believe the lapinator plus is big enough to handle the 9400)

crapzilla. i got a pacific cooler, which is on full blast.
My CPU Temp stays at around 45-50, and internal cpu fan always stays off.
GPU Temp goes up to 80, then internal GPU fan goes on slow, bringing it back down to 70, before shutting off again.

Whats going on? Why gpu so hot? Im not even gaiming...

You need to run i9kfangui like the rest of us. That is how we keep the GPU ~54degrees idle or 50 degrees idle with fans on full.

Also, I am looking at the pacific cooler. If you download and run i9kfangui, post results of the difference between running the laptop at idle with and without the cooler. Would be much appreciated.

Dellbert, I am noticing that my temperatures are runnign a little bit hotter. I am idling w. fans on slow around 56. You see similar results? You run your fans on slow consistently don't you?

i would love to post my temps and stuff but i dont know how to find my temps.

yo dellbert, is I9kfangui ok with the core duo??

The website says not to use it until version 2.4....

It works for manual fan control, but don't trust the temp readings.

@tinman, download coolbits or rivatuner, and you'll be able to read the GPU temp.

Do you guys control de CPU fans with i9kfangui? I can't seem to get the CPU fan always stay in max. After a while it goes from slow to fast (Like 3 seconds fast then 2 slow, then fast again 3 secs then back to slow etc..) as if it where in a loop and its very annoying because you can hear it going from fast to slow and is extremely distracting and annonying.

The GPU fans always stay in max when I activate it though, no problems with that, works great. Because of that I have just decided to use fangui only to control de gpu fan and let the lappy control the cpu fans when it feels like it....... no other choice =/.
