Asus M6800n *56k warning* - Page 11

Woohooo got my speedswitching to work!!!
Until now it would only change speed when rebooting, and when talking to asus support they said that i should return the unit and get it fixed. But not necessary.

I have downloaded Speedswitch XP ( www.diefer.de/speedswitchxp ) , and then i found a link for a microsoft hotfix via fujitsu-siemens site for the P-M CPU. You can find it here: http://support.fujitsu-siemens.de/Dr...iste_Amilo.htm

Don´t know if it´s availible in windows update. Running Windows XP Servicepack 2 beta, so XP update doesn´t work for me.

Now i can switch the cpuspeed instantly and it´s also working in dynamic (auto) mode.

Am I a happy user or what

(just wanted to share my happiness, this was my biggest annoyance with the notebook)

I've got some Senn HD 570's that I like quite a bit. They were priced reasonably at something like $125-$150 USD.

hey guys does anyone know where to get the modular bay battery from?

Mmmm... I should probably buy one of those since I´m used to a pair of Sonus Faber grand piano... But I can´t afford them right now...

About that problem you had with processor speed, you don´t like the power4gear from Asus?

I think power4gear is great, besides that it doesn´t change my cpu speed on the fly. For some reason it´s only speedswitch that can do this on my machine (combined with the CPU driver mentioned earlier). And I had the newest edition of power4gear installed (and every other program/driver/bios for that matter)

Hey All
Just bought the m6800n with 1,6 ghz, 512 mb ram, 60 gb harddrive and XP pro

I am having a few problems..

The audio is really crappy. Does anyone have the same problem?? I am playing my music from the laptop to my stereo and have never had this problem before with my desktop comp. Installed all the latest drivers from asus..

Also the fan on the cpu/graphics card turns on/off at free will and is very annoying.

Is it controllable??

Also my harddrive makes an odd click sometimes...

really hopes someone can help.

Thanks Michael

The audio on mine is fairly decent, for a notebook. The fan will cycle on/off if you're running at higher perf setting, typically plugged in. Got to keep those chips from burning up ya' know....

Thanks for the link to that hotfix. Now my cpuspeed is truly variable without having to run 3rd party utilities.

Xax: WOW great price, I'm jealous buddy ;p Too bad that seller has some strikes, but for that price, well... if it were me I'd call/email em to guage their response time and knowledge and, well, VIBE for lack of a better word. If they seem up to snuff there I'd prolly go with it- as long as they're Asus certified you'll be covered by Asus warranty anyway in worst-case-scenario.

Z0rr0: Be sure to post that review/bench link when you get it up!

Hmm, im new and this i my first post

I have read this hole post, i think, but can still cant found out why it's called 56K warning?

Sorry for bad english, im from Denmark
I think it's just a warning to dial-up modem users due to all of the pictures in the parent's review of the notebook (I think prolly 500k worth or so).

Mmmm... Maybe he was referring to this:

1,5GHz * 12.5% = 180MHz

Graphics clock:
(317/209) = 9115 stock
(364/222) = 9903
(400/236) = 10433
(452/256) = 11345

oh yeah ad i typed my signature wrong.... i have a 1.6ghz P-M
it can go higher but no need you get the basic performance range :-)
