HP ZV5034 cont'd... Shared IRQs a problem?

I discovered on this new HP ZV5034us I've got that IRQ channel 19 is shared by FOUR items: the graphics card, the FireWire port, and two of the USB ports.

According to some laptop pro-audio guys, this can potentially cause problems and glitches, etc. when running external I/O audio devices. I will be using a FireWire device for multi-channel recording and of course glitches of any kind would be a nightmare...

Anyone have experience with, or know which laptops best avoid such problems?

I read somewhere that modern day PCI buses make little use of IRQs...not sure though.

I hate all the fussing about details, and i don't even know half of what we're talking about yet(!) But I would hate to end up getting audio glitches due to incompatabilities I could/should have foreseen...

(Aren't IRQs an essential part of the BIOS?)

IRQs are used by BIOS, but that really is a legacy thing. Once the OE takes over I dont think IRQs are even used. DMA access replaces that, I think.

Hmm, then I wonder what the concern is that I read about... It did sound like it was a potential problem with certain combinations of hardware, but not necessarily a common one with all. As usual, someone has to bite the bullet...
I'm currently looking at the Sager with 60GB 7200rpm HD...
(Wonder if someone could say what the IRQ allocations are on Sager laptops..?)
