XTreme-G MobileForce 84.12-v2.30 GS RELEASED!!! - Page 3

Looks cool Tony!
I am running the latest stock drivers from DELL!
Will these give me a noticable boost and/or enhanchement concering image quality?
yeah it is actually way hotter to the touch, like i said feels like it could burn my leg hair off, it's pretty damn hot though for real.

image quality is better in my opinion with the new ones though

could you think of any explanation for this and should i just revert back to the old ones? those temps seem a little high for my taste
post #43 of 60
The only explanation why a GPU can get hotter with different drivers is that the drivers are better able to utilize the GPU's functions, thereby putting more parts of the GPU to work at the same time with greater efficiency.

This causes greater heat.

Cooler drivers are also lower performing drivers.

That answer makes a lot of sense to me since the games do run and look way better than before (i do have the same settings in control panel)

Are those temps normal though for anybody else? i just dont like the fact that they jumped up about +10 degrees

found something else. when i turn on my laptop running off battery and then plug it into the wall, the video card does not change the power source from "battery" to "ac outlet" under powermizer. but the laptop itself recognizes that the plug is in.

restarting my laptop does make it work correctly though.

I think these drivers by default have the Nvidia Display Driver Service set to Disable. You need to change it to Automatic for Powermizer to sense power source changes (on the fly at least).

yeah that was it thanks man

Great drivers!

Damn my post looks goofy!
I didn't just mean the image quality because I know that will be better.
Was more talking about the performance compared to the stock drivers.
Many months ago I tried tweaked drivers but no noticable improvement in performance.
Now we are months ahead of tweaking and such and was wondering or these latest baby would make an instant noticable difference in frame rate performance concerning gaming.
I don't have much time to play around and tweak myself.
Just want to install them and see immidiate benefits.
Otherwise I rather stay with the stock!
I hope my question and reason for this question is a bit more clear now!

I have the latest purevideo software and the 84.12 drivers and noticed no drop in cpu load while running hd clips. Quicktime 1080p is the worst and is still unwatchable.
jumping 10 degrees is unfortunate, but 72 is still cold man, I get to 93 now. (granted, at 450/1250, but still, it's hot!)

Unwatchable how? I watched the new xmen trailer off apples site at 1080p and it was fine....i'm not using purevideo either..

holy shit, 93!? ok ill stop complaining.

Tony, today I installed these on my freshly reformatted 9400 with a 7800go. When the system restarted there were a ton of wavy lines across the screen like this:

I also got a memory parity error within a half an hour of installing these drivers. I went back to Dell's stock drivers and it all worked fine. Is there any compatibility issues with the 7800go, or is there something that I am doing wrong that would cause this?

xg mf 84.20s coming soon?

nvmd my mistake i get like 4 frames more...

UNICRON-WMD
you said your temp was over 100. is it possible it was over 100F and not C?

Well, it got to 104 before that and was still 100% stable overclocked and everything.

Seems my AS5 application skills have improved over last time... either that or the exchange of the heat pipe assembly for the one of my old 6800U did it.

the new 84.25's brought temps back down
IQ still good too
