XPS M170/9300 on a plane?

I'm wondering how well I can fit the laptop on the business class table things in an airline? I had some troubles with my 5680 and I know this is bigger....

Should I buy a stand or something too if I want to maintain some cooling? What about use of a logitech G5, anyway i can gain a little space for that without scratching up the wristpad?

Thanks, just wanna prepare for the flight to Florida on Sat, first time with my M170 on a plane. Experiences welcome.

On a side note though, I seen a lap top desk thing for laptops somewhere.

Yeah I used to have the targus one, it sucked cause it folded while in use and had no space for mouse, with a 15" laptop..

Any good stands i can bring that will keep me cool when plugged in too, maybe fans that can be toggled? I hit 104C at stock settings in TOCA 3 and others right now, no AS5, stock outta the box.

It's a balance, but you can get it to sit on a tray table in business class. Heck I've even used my 9300 on my lap in economy, but I am keen

Noody

I have broughten my 9300 to Detroit and Nicaragua already. I put the laptop on my lap instead of on the desk. Northwest and TACA's tray tables werent too big so i had to carry it on my lap in the planes.

Well tray tables tend to be about as wide as my legs and thats about the same size as my M170. I think your biggest problem is the poor little tray collapseing

I think the biggest problem would be fitting the XPS Bag on the plane... Lol that backpack is huge.

XD yeah, I'm trying to stuff it all into a targus shoulder bag. The 17" version, the lappy fits nice but the thing bulges like no other once filled to capacity.

Just bring a legal size clipboard with you, they're like 2-3$ at Office Depot. Then make sure half of it is weighted down by the laptop and the rest sticks out to the right as a mouse surface. Works fine for me with my 7.5lbs 15.4" work laptop on plans.

Also, call up Dell and get the cheapest Auto/Air adapter they have. Then call them up and tell them it didn't work on the plane because it couldn't supply enough power. They'll send you an extra 9cell battery for misrepresenting the adapter.

P.S. Depending on the airline, the adapter will work if you set up BIOS for low power mode. =)

Ive used it in economy with one issue.. if you are in a seat where theres not enough room in the front.. and the passenger in front of you reclines.. then you are not going to be able to completely open the lappy to use conveniently.

Exit Row or Business class needed.

Set your monitor to 90* and learn the art of typing sideways.

Saw a laptop get trashed today on a flight.... hit some turbelance, laptop went up, guys drink next to it went in the air hitting the laptop and laptop landed on the arm rest smashing the LCD.

I think the guy with the laptop got a swollen lip from it, but couldn't tell since I was about 15 seats back.
