So I went for it! Here's the originals:Seagate 250GB:Silver enclosure:
Got the originals last week, after getting nowhere and four computers in the location not recognizing the drive, the original enclosure (silver) was thought to blame. Then after almost a day's worth of testing and technical support, the HDD was declared defective. So, I returned both the enclosure and the HDD, ordered the same HDD and chose a different enclosure as I found it to be really fragile. Went with a Coolmax enclosure - black... I have the pics but not with me right now.. so here it is: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...600952&CatId=0
enclosure arrived last Friday and I found it to be really durable and strong, in the link, it resembles an actual book which it does.. you can choose to stand it up upright in a shelf or lay it flat and place stuff on top of it because of its strength. The previous silver one sucked and wasn't nearly as strong.
The HDD arrived today and it's working wonderful as of right now.. fully functional and no sign of any problems. All's good. Note
: Clicking noise, especially on a Desktop HDD is NOT a good thing, which is what my original was sounding like. A couple support lines was saying it was okay, then after being on the phone for about a half hour with Seagate which gave me an authorization number, "is your hdd making any noise?" to which I replay... "uh, hell ya!" rep:"mmk, here's your auth number." New one is beautifully silent.
Now I hope the rebate will process successfully...
