Acer Aspire 1654WLMi RECOVERY GONE WRONG!!

Thread Starter
Hi,ive currently got myself a Acer Aspire 1654WLMi its only like 7 days old,i installed all my anti-virus,firewall etc and a few bits.
Made myself a recovery dvd all burnt well (you think)

Now i wanted to go back to factory default so i used the acer management function,it started to recovery then it gets to 19% and wont go any further, says there is a problem with the disk! the disk seems fine no scratches on it.
I then had no other option but to reeboot and BANG no OS on my notebook s***
My question yo you guys on this new forum to me is!
can i recover my win xp back! cos i know its stored on the other partition i take it! or do i need to contact acer about this!

many thanks in advance

stephen!

Did you use eRecover ?. The "safe" method is to make an image to the D: partition and then create / burn the disks from that.

It seems you may have allready trashed the C: partition.

If you burnt a 'factory default image ' cd's or DVD as suggested during the initial start up sequence and that has failed you may also have a media or cd drive problem.

Hopefully if your hidden recovery partition is still intact. I suggest you contact ACER support as the experts in your situation.

There is also a chance that you can run eRecover during the boot process. (Works on my machine).

RTFM (Read The Fine Manual) if D2D Recovery is enabled in the BIOS then an Alt+F10 key sequence during the POST should get you into eRecover from boot. This will give you the opportunity to recreate the default disks. HTH
