Asus z70va suddenly slow windows load

Up until a few days ago it would take only about 30 seconds to load into windows. I booted up the other day and it took about 1 minute - 1min15secs. Now every time I boot up it takes this long. Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone know why it would suddenly do this?

I've noticed over the course of time between reformats... the more crap I put on my HDD, the longer it takes windows to load. However I haven't seen the change such as yours (drastic). Have you checked out what programs are loading on start up?

Run>msconfig

Same here. Although I have 50 processes, it does take ages to load windows. Really annoying seeing as I got a high spec PC. Does the 4500rpm really account for the time it takes to load? Would a 5400rpm make a difference?

Well, now windows wotn boot... heres my situation as I described it to another help site...

It takes about 30 seconds to get to the windows loading screen (during that 30 seconds there is a black screen and the hard drive makes repetitive clicking noise). When the windows loading screen does boot up, its interrupted by a blue screen that says "Process1_initialization_failed" and all the other generic blue screen lingo. I've tried safe mode, but that doesn't work either. Any suggestions?

probably a hardware error. hard drive might be dying. and yes emz, a 5400rpm hard drive will probably help loads.

Yup, try the recovery CDs, but be prepared to the possibility that the hard drive cannot be saved and you need to get a new one.
