I've heard that MT-40 25w CPUs is not compatible, ML-40 35w works fine.

It works fine if I use AC Adapter the problem only happens when I try to turn it on from the battey. So I doubt that is it.

Yes the compatibility problem with MT-40 25w is that it will only boot from AC and will not boot from battery power.

The only fix for this problem is to change your CPU, I heard this from Asus and one of my customer.

MT-40 is the only CPU that is not compatible, MT-37 and all other MTs works fine and so is all other ML.

What so differant about the MT-40 that makes it the only one that does this?

I am not sure, the ML and MT are exact same core except the voltage and Thermal Design Power.

maybe the multiplier, both MT-40 and ML-40 has X11 multiplier except MT is 25w and ML is 35w, and MT-37 has X10 multiplier with 25w, so it maybe that the laptop can not multiply the CPU to X11 at 25w when it's using the battery power.

Does Asus know about this problem and have any plans on fixing it?

Yes they know, both A6U and Z92KM does not support MT-40, unless you want to wait to see if they have BIOS update in the future, but as of now change CPU is the only way to fix this problem.

Any idea if and when they might release this update?

That always sucks thanks for the help. My reseller also called ASUS and said the same thing. SO I guess a cheap Sempron tell they release an update.

ASUS Notebook Support confirmed it was an issue with the MT-40 only.
Hopefully a BIOS update will be out soon to fix this...

What if you manually downclock it in the bios so its recognized as another CPU?

Its a laptop. Meaning it has a cripped BOIS. Also its nto a speed issue since the ML-40 will worjk from what im told its only the MT-40 that does not work. I found anther source about this on AMD Forum.

maybe not enough juicy for battery to multiply X11 at 25w by current BIOS version.

Who knows but I guess its a common issue. I ordered a Sempron 3000+ 25w From our friends at c9tech and hopefully that works.

That wouldnt' make much sense since it can run the ML-40 35w just fine.

I agree here. Sasha did ASUS give a reason it does not work?
