the point isn't to wait.

the point is to get the best currently available (which is why it is a shame that Gateway lacks the GTX).

Well the predecessor to the NX860/M685 did support an MXM Type3 slot, but they only support Pentium-M's.

But, since the NX860/M685 use the same chassis, it seems probable that it uses an MXM Type3 slot too.
Unfortunately there aren't any pictures from the inside around, nor did anybody open up it's NX860/M685.

Keep in mind, that if you buy a core duo notebook now, you won't be able to use 64bit stuff and you won't be able to upgrade tot the 64 bit CPU's (Meron) around the corner (AFAIK).
