I have a Logitech MX500 mouse with the forward and back buttons and I'm trying to get them to work in Firefox... any clues? In the control center it only has settings for dpi ect...

Also, since I have an Dell M70, I was wondering on how to enable the volume and mute buttons under the LCD... any ideas???

nope... its not in keyboard or mouse. The buttons I'm talking about are the internet BACK & FORWARD buttons on the Logitech MX500. There is no settings for these buttons that I have found. It may not even be a KDE thing as it doesn't work in Gnome either. Maybe in xorg.conf?

Doesnt really sound like its something that would be supported. But if u get lucky on searching it in google or whatever you choose to use then more power to you.

the buttons do other things I just don't know where I can configure them. the Back button does the same as the right click....and forward button is the same as middle ....pulls up different menus... I just want them to do something else. Shouldn't have to google it... there are plenty of ppl here using linux.

sigh this is exactly what I hate about the linux community....even tho I have been a part of it for nearly 10 years! EVERYONE'S first response is RTFM...... Since I know this, wouldn't you suspect that I have exhausted all other sources first before having to go through all of the comments of "RTFM NOOB" or the like? Come on... I have googled it.

Then again, there are only 2 ppl replying to any of my posts in this linux forum.... maybe I should seek answers elsewhere seeing as I dont seem to be welcome here...

Not to mention, ALL of your replies to me have been in an effort to correct me rather than try and answer my question. If you dont know it then say so! And stop patronising me. You don't know me. I'd rather you not post at all than waste my time with these snide remarks.

Sheesh a bit touchy.

The reason why the linux people say google first, is because most often your answers are quick to find via google, even quicker than posting, and requires minimal extra effort on your part. Linux people in general arent a fan of being lazy, though I admit I have done it as well on occasion. Doing a little research before you ask is not out of the question.

Also the reason not many people are answering your threads is maybe because things like this one noone here knows the answer to(Well someone might, but noone has posted a definitive answer yet). We could all come back and answer, not a clue, but honestly that helps noone and just wastes time, both yours and ours. So we keep an eye out for the answer if/when it should come, to store away for the next person that asks, and in the meantime try not to waste time.

The last part is a config for nautilus, so I don't know what you need to do for konqueror. At least you can get the proper xorg info from that howto. If I remember correctly, I got my extra MX510 buttons working with just the xorg config settings.

I think firefox/opera will be able to use the forward/back buttons, but konqueror may not. You'll have to try it out and let us know.

Are you using KDE or Gnome? Not sure if these settings are universal w/ the xorg between window managers...

because ALL your questions are already answered.

Those buttons invoke default commands in Windows (even without drivers). Since that's not the case in Linux, they must be guided by drivers, but I don't think Logitech makes any drivers for linux.

Dude, what are you even doing in the linux forum if you're not going to contribute? I mean give me and everyone else a break.... I dont have time for your comments.

Way to make me feel real welcome bro. Now stop replying to my thread if you are not contributing something useful. Everyone else is why can't you?

Stay on topic please.

You can't contribute any more to a question that has been answered already. UNless if you want me to show you exactly where to find your answers like the other guy did who posted a url from your own distro's forum.! and that is not going to happen.
What does this mean ? It means that you are too lazy to look for answers and expect everyone here to jumb and answer to your already answered questions.

here is an idea, since you have Kubuntu, why not try out ubuntuforums.org

Guys, stop the flaming; I don't want to lock the thread.

Search the Gentoo Forums for ideas. Just a random post: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.p...265819#1265819 .
