Ferrari 4006 fan always on problem

Hello,

I'm an owner of a new Acer Ferrari 4006 and beside from a constant fan noise I'm very pleased with this solid machine.

The problem is a constant running fan(I think it's the chassis fan), even if the cpu temp is around 30 degrees.

If checking the 'fan always enabled' through emanager the rpm do increase. And when un-checking the box the fan goes down approx. 50% but the loud is way to high and constantly on. I would expect this should be variable as I'm used to on other notebooks.

Running latest BIOS 3A23 - and there are no options via BIOS meny to modify how the fan is running.

I called the Acer support and they where unable to assist.

Does anybody have a solution to this problem ?

Did they at least give you the option of sending it back? (Last resort)

Does this happen when it is on battery and/or AC? Power management settings are...? Or does it not matter?

I doubt it is something like a loose sensor/wire, but to rule out the software, can you keep it on for like 10-15 minutes outside of windows (like BIOS or something?

It was the Acer support in Sweden, I got the impression they tried to understand the problem and asked if I've tried a number of things, the usual support questions. But I'd already tried what you can normally look into, BIOS settings - none, power management settings - ok, ac or on battery does not matter, latest drivers, I flashed BIOS back a couple of revisions to see if any bugs had crawled in in later releases, but no difference.

The fan, and I believe it's the chassis fan that is running on high rpm's even though the notebook is cool.

I asked the support if they had notes about people calling in complaining about this issue, but I was told they where not aware of that... but that answer does not mean anything really. Acer must be aware, after what I've learned now through this great forum and on google. They can't have missed this issue. I told the support to put in a official request to the coding people about this... we'll see.
