Dual 2405 on e1705...

Long shot, but possible?

In fact, im even wondering if the single DVI out on the e1705 is good enuff for a 2405...

Some said that the 2405 needs a duallink DVI (a SINGLE duallink DVI connector, pls dont confuse this with DUAL DVI connectors)..


And that a singlelink dvi would give inferior quality....


Any advice?

It'd be awesome to do most of my importeant computer work on the 2405, then put all my WINAMP, skype, email client, torrent software, IM clients,etc windows on the laptop screen...

it should be, but you'll lose the laptop's lcd and will have to youse one of them with vga and one with dvi.

There is no image quality difference between single link dvi and dual link dvi, the only difference is in how mcuh data can go over the dvi interface.

the 2405fpw does not need or use dual-link dvi, it uses single link dvi with reduced blanking.

I can confirm as well. If the laptop can handle it's own screen at 1920x1200 plus an external LCD at 1920x1200, then two 205FPW's will work. I successfully had my 2405FPW (hooked up with VGA) plus my 22" Samsung LCD HDTV (via DVI) running off my 9400. I currently run with just the 2405FPW on DVI and as the primary display, and the laptop LCD set to "do not extend my monitor" (therefore it turns off), with the lid closed. It works very nicely.

The 2405FPW is single link, single DVI.

The 9400/e1705 will NOT support the 30" in native resolution, however, in case anyone is wondering.

sprockett, get some 35$ off E&A coupons on ebay for 2$ each. that'll save you 70$ there. or see if the 60/65$ coupon still works.

hi jax, i got dual 2005s instead, dual 2405 is too rich for me.... although i was SERIOUSLY considering it.

When they dropped the 2005s to 360 i had to get them...

cant wait till they come!

PS: yah i did use the 35 off coupons...

Cool... I use the 2005FPW's currently and I enjoy them. But after a while you'll get used to the 2005FPW's for their "size" and be tempted to go bigger. haha

dot pitch size, the 2005s seem to be abt the same as 17inchers.. does that mean the text sizes will be about the same?
