Email Problems

Hi All, Recently purchased laptop and it came with Outloook Express. Then I found I could receive emails with attachments, but could NOT send emails any longer than about 6 lines, and attachments couldn't be sent either.

Started using Eudora, but exactly the same thing is happening. Though I can send attachments and long emails with my HOTMAIL account and also on my ISP webpage.

Have exhausted all possible causes of this, and don't know what to do next, so thought I'd ask you people out there before I phone Dell support or/and Belkin - I have laptop and pc networked with the Belkin G wireless.

Any ideas?

I'm guessing it's your ISP. Depending on where you are, their servers will reject you sending mail. For example, when i'm at home, i can send mail without a problem. when im at my university, i have to use my isp's web based mail thing to send e-mail.

Is it my ISP, do you think, because I had no trouble with them before I got this Inspiron laptop. Also, I can send attachments through my ISP webpage account and also through Hotmail. Aren't I using my provider's service when sending through hotmail?

Do you think there is something on windows or somewhere on the laptop that is telling emailer (both Outlook Express and Eudora) not to send anything bigger than Xkb?

Sorry, I'm not very up with computer things

Actually, I will phone my ISP support today, even if to eliminate them as a cause. Though I did email them initially, but he came back with such computer jargon that I didn't understand what he meant. He said it was to do with MTU or something like that

okay, thank you guys. Got on to ISP and did some tests, which eliminated them. Got on to Belkin (the router), quite a few phone calls, and had to get a little bit 'heavy' with them at the end so as they would focus and help. And yes, it was the Belkin router!

Problem was fixed and I'm all smiles
