LOL I know how you feel. I did the same plus I was waiting for the $650 off coupon and today when I checked Dell's website there was no 7800 Then I checked dell refurbished and It was as or more expensive than a new machine. So I went to ebay and bought one for $1242 shipped. (Core Solo 1.66, 1gb 533mhz ram, 100gb 5400 hd, 256 7800go, WUXGA, DVD-RW, Dell Wireless Card). Is this a good price? Considering that I did not have to pay tax for this laptop.

You don't have to pay tax until the state hunts your down and forces you to pay, haha I'm just messin!

Why did u buy core solo?
At Dell Espana, there is still the option of the 7800go but it says it will take 2 to 3 weeks. Luckily mine was ordered last week, so maybe i wont have to wait that long.
Hmm, maybe I should be a dick and sell mine on eBay for an inflated price?
haha good idea .......I could do that........cept I'd miss it until I got replacement

no, they just wait long enough for the back taxes to gain enough interest and then cash in

I am currently accepting offers for mine...bidding starts at $1600.

I'm just kidding...unless somebody's seriously willing to pay it.

1. Price. I am also going to invest what I have in a 3 year warranty.
2. I don't really need the core duo right now, but I will upgrade later when the prices drop.

well I think we all know you can upgrade, thanks to some one at this forum, the threads around here some where, and if you wanted to upgrade right now you still would save about $300 to $400 or even more off the top. You could put in the T2600 cheaper then my T2500

Has anyone tried contacting Dell to find out why they dropped the 7800?
Everything's pointing to supply issues right now.

7800 Issue

This might interest you.

I was interested in purchasing a 9400 (e1705), and was also bummed when they dropped the GeForce 7800 card. So after a little inquiring at Dell, I was told that the card is no longer sold because of a performance/compatibility issue with the Dual Core processors. Hence the abrupt discontinuation of it.
They mentioned that a newer version is being worked on and should be released shortly (whatever that means!)
So to all of you who are trying to obtain one with the 7800 Card, maybe give it a second though for the time being.

Performance/compatibility issue? Sounds like someone fed you a line of BS. No compatibility issues or performance issues here... outside of their ferocious underclocking of the chip from the factory.

ya I know I messed that up. But I bet if we saw a moblie 90nm GT the best we would see id 20 pipes with 1 quad disabled.

No the Desktop 7900 cards launched. Same cores, just 90nm, and much higher clock speeds. Main thing is dies are smaller thus Nvidia makes more money LOL. It was mainly just a speed boost.

"Performance and compatability issues"

Well damn, I want a new laptop then! If there is a heat problem, like I suspect, then they better fix it, and send me a new laptop!
