I found this site

http://www.osx86project.org/

Has anyone tried to install the OS X on the 9300's hardware? does it work?

Yes, and yes it works. But there are no nvidia drivers so your limited to a 1280x1024 max resolution. I haven't tried the 10.4.4 or 10.4.5 patches but 10.4.3 works great.

I just thought I would add, you are only limited to 1280x1024 when you are using the laptop's LCD. if you are using an external display it can run up too 2048x1536.

I'm running 10.4.5 perfectly on my Inspiron 9300, but if you're using a GeForce 6800 Go you are limited only to 1024x768 max resolution, not 1280x1024.
Some VESA 3 supported Nvidia's WILL allow higher res' though.

well i am having troubles with this is have a 9300, with 1 gig of ram, with pentium m 1.6, 40 gig hd, and geforce go 6800. not i got it to install on my internal hd but it wouldnt recognize anything connected through usb, is mouse, ipod.. also it wouldnt run itues. safari worked fine, but when i tried to intall flash it wouldnt work, in addition apple ox 10 logitech derivers wouldnt run on it either. not i tried putting it on my external hd, yet as soon as it boots (the gray apple screen it freezes) this is because it cant recognize the hd (because its through usb) can anyone help me?

3rd Party drivers for OS X will not work unless they are universally built for both PPC and Intel Systems, not sure what the Logitech Support is like, but I'm using a wireless keyboard and mouse fine with my Mac, haven't tried anything like an iPod etc.
I've known people to have perfectly bootable installations through USB devices as well, errr I'm not sure what to really suggest, but you're better off asking questions on the OSx86 Project web-site.

steermouse or usboverdrive universal binary versions both work great

..and what's the point? to prove it can be done after Apple switched to Intel?

sheer geekiness mainey!

the tiger software is great, nice to learn that system

the thing is for a wee bit of time you can get your 9300 running fast as an off the shelf mac (that is awesome)

the downside is that until a new mac is released with an nvidia card, then we are stuck as a crap low resolution

that makes it not a day to day system for me

(dell 6000 users with the higher res screen get a workable higher resolution with the x300 card (ATI brand) and the vesa 3 support

any free stuff is cool in my book; and I spend more time mucking around than gaming

add a proper nvidia driver and you can have the best of both worlds, for free

At Macvidia you can download drivers. I have a 9300w/6800go an its running without a problem @1920x1200

Yup.. I have those MacVidia drivers installed too and I'm running at 1920x1200. You can even switch resolutions if you want in OSX which is cool. These drivers don't however have video accel. so you can't watch dvds or anything.

The day they get it to run at 1920x1200 with video acceleration is the day I dualboot it.

If mac can run Windows XP natively then why shouldn't the PC run OSX? Linky Linky -> http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/

Why would you want to install a Mac os? I see no point.

OS X is a great operating system. It's unix based, yet programs are easy to install.

EDIT: What is this shit I'm reading about people saying it's illegal to install Mac OS X on a pc?
