So it really does nothing then for the 7800gTX in the XPS M170??

Other than increase performance in FEAR when using AA (under Windows XP) you mean? Worth it for that alone, IMHO.

I've been using it for a week or so now and it seems to be a good one. I'm replaying HL2 and will install FEAR soon. I've watched some movies as well (Pure Video CODEC) and it all seems to look good.

No probs here either. I actually liked the 84.12 ones as well, but I reloaded FEAR again and these babies seem to help. I had the GPU overclocked, but I was able to turn everything up including soft shadows and it played well. I am going to try it again with stock settings and see how she plays.

Before with the 1.01 patch and older nVidia drivers I had problems with framerate with soft shadows and I had lots of artifacts when I overclocked. Those problems seem to be a thing of the past now.

I'd rather use FSAA than soft shadows in this game. The soft shadows look a little odd, and it just kills my performance.

How are you using 84.20s for a week? They have been released yesterday, and driver is dated wednesday.
