I just sold my 710m and got the SZ-120p. The 710 was very nice but the technology was outdated...older Centrino chipset, IntelGraphics2, etc. It was also just a bit too small. The keyboard was very small when compared to the Sony, although the quality and typing on it was better than the Sony. Sony's keyboard is kind of crappy. Space bar will not work if you don't hit it near the center and too much key travel. The screen on the Dell was very nice, although not as bright as the Sony. I wanted a better GPU which in the case of the SZ, even the stamina mode Intel 950 is better than the IntelGraphics2 on the Dell. I paid only about $1250 for the 710m and it was loaded with the best processor, 1 Gig of RAM, DVD burner, two batteries, (The Dell got a good 6 hours with the screen at it's brightest using the bigger battery...I doubt very much the Sony will achieve the same with it's bigger battery), two chargers, 80GB drive, etc. etc. For that price it was an awesome little notebook. I really like the Sony and have not had a single issue with it as far as operational issues. It's as light as the 710m but large enough for me to do the work I need to. I love the fingerprint reader...it works perfectly and the nVidia card is also a nice step up. I also have a Dell 9300 for the big work, and have never had a problem wit any Dell notebook...I've had five. This is my first Sony. For the totally ridiculous money Sony wants for add-ons I could buy two 710m's! I needed a second charger which Sony tried to rip you off for $90. I found the exact same OEM Sony charger at CDW for only $28! Even Dell only wanted $30 for a second charger. Sony is too greedy and overpriced on everything and the SZ as nice as it is, does not have the tight build quality the 710m did. For $2000 Sony needs to get their act together a bit and get rid of the cheap parts they use. The 710 is on it's way out as the technology is just too outdated, but for $1200 loaded it's a damn nice little machine. I personally would wait for the replacement model. Good Luck!
