My name is Kola, i bought a used compaq Armada m700, PIII 850, 128MB, 20GB, in july 2005 and ever since then its been a hell of an experience.
the laptop is extremely slow, it takes like 10 minute to fully boot, to open any program is better imagined 'cause it takes an eternity, it is even worse when you are online, something i observe is that it has a program running in the back ground 'services.exe' and when you try to stop it, you get the info that you do not have the permission to stop the program, this program uses 100% CPU resources, please i need help what can i do

What operating system are you using? WinXP should have at LEAST 256MB of memory. 128 will barely work. That could be the heart of the problem. If you can, I'd suggest upgrading the memory to 512MB. You might want to consider formatting the drive and going back to Win98 if you can't get more memory. Not much help I guess, but a good place to start.

yep, thats exactly why its so slow. It dosent have enough ram, and its using virtual memory which slows everything down to a crawl. Get a 512 stick and install it. its easy, and it will run like new . If you cant do that. downgrade OS'es like wa2uxf said. Windows 2000 would be a great choise. Its just like xp, but without all the eye candy
