I've read this on other laptop forums and there's references here aswell in previous threads but they never got really far.
Problem: Battlefield2 has static pop audio anomalies with i9400/E1705 laptops.
NOT a potential cause - Sigmatel 92xx sound card series. Peoples have tried to play it with an audigy 2 ZS and got the same sound results
NOT a potential cause - The laptop components itself or wire problems. Simple reason is every other single game i've tried on it work flawlessly, Farcry, call of duty 2, FEAR, doom3, WoW, Homeworld2. Its JUST battlefield 2 and every mention of this problem on forums is always related to this game.
All updated drivers, battlefield patch 1.21.
So, how can we take action? Probably not DELL's fault and contacting them about this would be an headache, they simply suck when it goes too technical, their answer would probably be "we'll send you a new laptop and you can return your old one"..
Solution: Contact EA itself, in mass, everyone with this laptop should contact them and ask for a fix. Im not expecting a lot of peoples to do it since you have to register to ask a question to their support agents, but the more we are, the more likely they'll fix the problem once and for all, not only for battlefield 2 but potentially future EA games.
