i'm sure theres allot of settings i have yet to set, but when i go to shutdown i used to have four options, stand by, turn off, restart, and one other. maybe it was hybernate or something but i know i'm short one button, anyone know what i'm missing? or how to fix if i need to.

It's hibernate.

Right-click on desktop and go to properites
Go to Screen Saver Tab and click on Power. . .
Click the Hibernate Tab and then click Enable Hibernation

How many processes do you have after a complete startup? Did your Super Pi 2M score improve?

Speaking of the missing hibernate button - I followed the instructions from microsoft, located below, to get the hibernate button to appear back as a seperate button instead of having to hold down shift - and I CAN NOT for the life of me get that dang hibernate button to reappear. Anyone know how to do this??

Instructions from Microsoft to make the Hibernate button reappear seperatley on the shutdown menu:

The opposite happened to me. I reformatted and it popped up in my menu. Weird huh?

But that still doesnt explain what is happening to this disappearing button. I actually like using FN+ESC or FN+F1 better, but would like the option of using the extra button on the shutdown menu...if we could ever get it back.

I remembered from a 9300 thread a long time ago, the solution is to reinstall Dell Quickset and your buttons will reappear during shutdown.
