hi, any of you (lady and gent) tried this latest catalyst? I installed it on mine and must back it up due to machine slow down. Tried it with clean install, driver cleaner and all. Still big slowdown. now back on 6.2
cheers.

I just installed them today and haven't had any problems. When you say slow down though do you mean games? or just general computer performance?

In general, seemed like the screen was trying to refresh up & down. There was a delay when typing in things. I did turn the fast-write off, but to no avail. Got into blue screen as well (?)
totally lost!

Latest update - I installed JUST the drivers and NOT the ccc, stick with ATI Tray tool for tweak. It works smoothly.
Please advise if any of you has no issue with the CCC. I added the CCC and BOOM - back to square one with preformance issue.
Cheers.

I don;t know if it's the case with current version of CCC, but earlier versions required .net framework. Do you have that installed?

I have all latest updates from wXP. I used previous CCC (6.2 and earlier) with Zero issues. I did try again with a clean device UNINSTALL and just Catalyst 6.3 objects. No change, drivers = ok, CCC 6.3 = poof! Install back 6.2 : drivers and CCC = no problem! I will try to uninstall all my Visual Styles, just to use with the simple XP screen and see what else can be wrong. Strange,
Cheers.

I installed the 6.3's as well as CCC on my 7422GX. Does seem to be running a bit slower. I just unistalled my Omegas though and overclook through Radlinker as my laptop was starting to run very hot. I thought the catalyst drivers might be better at keeping it cooler.

Can anyone recomend the best drivers, Catalyst, Omega, etc to get the best GPU speed without overheating?

Thanks,
Surferboy

I know you don't wanna here this, but, the best driver that seems the work on my rig is the shipped ATI Mobility Updated Drivers version 8.221.0.0 1/26/2006 set at 1280 by 800 pixels resoultion, I have tried all of the others, Omega,Catalyst, and NONE of them have very good graphics to me, but, I have the ATI 9600 64mb Card ,so, can't do much with 64mb, that's why NONE of the newer one worked very well?

debnb45 -
u currently use Catalyst 6.2
I had NO problem with it. I concluded (for my M6805) that 6.3 with CCC is quite bad. 6.3 w/o CCC does improve the performance and fast screen rendering. I m staying with ATITray Tool as tweak tool until the next CCC (6.4)
Though I have heard that many other users had no issue with Catalyst 6.3 (CCC included) - but for now, I am using 6.3 drivers ONLY - so far so good!
cheers ...

Yes your correct, I just didn't have much luck w/ 6.3 and 6.4 i don't know why
the 6.2 drivers look better to me, and seem to have better graphics, I'm not a gamer, however, I do look at a lotta Video and I also use Slingbox to watch my Cable TV on my lappy I have a 8mb HSI connection as well, so I suppose that helps a lot too?
