does such a notebook exist? im sorry ive been posting so much lately, but im kind of at my wits end here. Im looking for a laptop to be a desktop replacement, but i will also be taking this laptop with me to classes and the like for taking notes, where plugging it in isnt always going to be an option. are there any laptops that do best of both worlds? also, a side note, is it true that most laptops will over heat if left on for a long period of time, and if so, would a cooling tray help that problem? thanks guys, youve all been very helpful so far.

Probably want to look at the Sager 5720 (I think that's the model #) series. Pretty good on both sides.

Dude stay in one thread and ask your questions instead of making multiple threads.

Sager any of the PM chips www.pctorque.com
Look at the XPS line from www.Dell.com

well these guys are giving you 17" options, wich in my opinion are too big and heavy to carry around everyday...

I think that you will be better off with 15,4" computers, some that come to mind are the Acer 8204 (great specs but expensive ~$2400) and the Ferrari 4005 (good specs ~$2000). If you can wait, do it. There will be many 15,4" notebooks coming with dual cores and the radeon X1600 (MSI-1039 comes to mind)
