Confused about lenovo warranty

Thread Starter
I am thinking of buying a new T60 (model 200763u) and am very confused about the warranty. Everything seems to indicate the base warranty is 3 years depot. Does depotmean I have to pay to send the laptop to IBM or do they send me a prepaid label?

Below are the warranty options I get and a lot of them seem similar. What are the differences between each warranty type? What is ThinkPad Protection? What does IOR mean? What is the difference between an "Extended Service Contract" and "Warranty Service Upgrade".

The laptop will be for personal use. What sort of warranty do you recommend?

-3-Year ThinkPad Protection
-3-Year ThinkPad Protection with 3-Year IOR 9x5 NBD
-4-Year ThinkPad Protection with 3-Year Depot to 4-Year Depot Repair
-4-Year ThinkPad Protection with 4-Year IOR 9x5 NBD
-Extended Service Contract 2 YR onsite repair 9x5 next day
-Extended Service Contract 3 YR onsite repair 9x5 next day
-Extended Service Contract 4 YR depot repair 9x5
-Extended Service Contract 4 YR onsite repair 9x5 next day
-Extended Service Contract 5 YR depot repair 9x5
-Extended Service Contract 5 YR onsite repair 9x5 next day
-Post-warranty maintenance; 1 year depot repair
-Post-warranty maintenance; 1 year onsite repair 9x5/next business day -Post-warranty maintenance; 2 year onsite repair 9x5/next business day -Warranty service upgrade; 2 year onsite repair 9x5/next business day
-Warranty service upgrade; 3 year onsite repair 9x5/next business day
-Warranty service upgrade; 4 year depot repair [add $93.50]
-Warranty service upgrade; 4 year onsite repair 9x5/next business day
-Warranty service upgrade; 5 year depot repair
-Warranty service upgrade; 5 year onsite repair 9x5/next business day

Just keep the the default 3year depot warranty if you can be without with your laptop for a couple of days if they break. How it works is they overnight you a box with a pre-paid label, you put your laptop in the box and it gets overnighted back to them. Then they fix it the same day as they receive it usually, and then overnight it back. Its usually a 3 or 4 day process. If you cant be without your computer, then I would upgrade it to on-site service, where they will send a technician out to fix it.

It depends on what kind of damages is done to your notebook. Most probably they don't cover so much for the warranty. Damn!!!
