Pretty cool. I like the idea that they will work in exhisting laptops.

That is no battery.
And I don't think that that will work in every existing laptop, as not every laptop releases it's batteries at a side and this thing atm seems to need space next to the laptop to extend the batteries size.
Sideeffect is, that (like shown on the picture) it won't fit any carrying case anymore.

Who wants to carry methanol around to fill up their laptop? Sounds kinda lame to me.

I wouldn't want those chemicals inches away from my you know what.

Interesting, I think that could be a very good option for those that need their laptop but aren't near an outlet. Definitely a good thing to have tucked away in your case if you find yourself out of power and no outlets in sight. I think the whole methanol thing is a great idea and should really help boost the usability of laptops. We'll see what happens when they come out.

I think its a decent concept, but the whole re-fueling like my car thing is not gonna make anyone to jump to buy it. And we know its gonna cost some $$$

If you read this article

Intel is working to address power source issues for laptops and other mobile devices, but is cautious about fuel cells.

The chipmaker and its partners in the Mobile PC Extended Battery Life Working Group don't expect to see fuel cells in notebooks anytime soon, said Kamal Shah, Intel's representative with the EBLWG. Numerous challenges, such as distribution and regulatory hurdles, will need to be cleared before fuel cells become a reality for most mainstream notebook users, and Intel isn't expecting that to happen this decade, he said.
So doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon anyway.

As well, you can't refill the methanol yourself. It seems like you have to buy refills which look like they're pretty cheap.

I personally would go for this. Not as a regular means of battery life, but for extended plan trips for example. Of course, that depends on how often I'd be taking such long trips and whether it'd be worth the initial investment of "less than $500".

Right now, buying an extra battery (or two) would probably be a better investment and cheaper in the long run.
