also, i am not in tune with amd processors. are turions comparable to centrino? are they dual cores? what is their speed or what can the 3 different cpu choices be compared to?

Think of a Turion as a low voltage, low power A64 desktop but only running on Single channel. But remember AMD has Dual core Turions in testing and will be out soon, thus you may be able to add dual core chip to this laptop B/C it uses the NF4 core logic which already has great support in the desktop area for dual cores

I thought that might be the case, but Luke said on the other post that this laptop won't be able to upgrade to dual core processors at all...

I'm planning to at the beginning of next month. Hope I can catch it before all the initial release are sold out, though.

Currently, it most definitely cannot accomodate the Dual core Turion, because that uses a completely different socket than the 754-pins which are currently out.

This does not mean however that there will never be a refresh of this model that has an updated motherboard which will be able to handle Turion 64 X2's.

hahah that would be funny, the best, most expensive op top notebook is using outdated CPU technology even before it´s on the market....

Man THAT would be the new century´s joke --- whoever would buy it then ? Dual GPU is cool, but not twice as cool cause increase is average 160% AFAIK, huge screen IS cool, but not so cool with such a low resolution, low voltage and power consumption CPU IS cool, but what is the sense of this in such a monster DTR ???

So if this machine is not upgradeable to dual core turions, I see black, darkest black.....

EDIT: LOOOOOLLLLL ROTFLH

No joke, the new Turion X2 processors use the new 638 Pin Socket 1 ---- Whahhahah
Clearly that means 9750 is the best option for now ! Sure, SLI graphic performance should be best, but for an SLI upgrade, you need twice the money... With a 9750 you can be sure to top SLI performance with one gpu-line upgrade.... hahah.... how can these people be so *sorry* stupid ?? Concerning CPU Socket 939 should be still supported in future with Opterons and even today still is best with F60. Oh my, I feel better now.
