Anybody have a Sanyo Katana? My son wants a new phone for his birthday next month and that's what he has his eye on..
Looking for actual owners (or people that know actual owners) with some helpful info on it..
Also, I'm only looking for Sprint phones as that's the service I've always had and always will have.. and we already have two Blades and a Fusic

Razr is my beater phone and Cingular 8125 (more or less the same as that guys mda in previous), works out to be a good combination...When I want a tough communication device that is slim and cool I use the razr, when I want tech at my fingertips I use the 8125....either way I win.

To that other guys post about the razr and fingerprints, mine is spotless and I never used a case or anything, just a slim holster that I clip inside my pocket to it stays up high instead of to the bottom. As I am not one of those people who constantly feels the need to put their index finger all over the outer lcd when making calls, I have no problems on the outside. On the inside I have a boxwave screen protector which is damn near resistant to fingerprints, dust and anything else. The most I find I have to do is wipe it down maybe at night with the boxwave microfiber cloth and it stays clean as a whistle...as far as the plastic goes thats never fingerprinted on me, although it can condense on the metal/aluminum parts....

As far as toughness goes, the razr can take a beating, though mine hasnt personally, my friend said he watched a guy "accidently" drop one off the second floor of a building...sure the battery snapped out, but he put it back in and all it had was a dent....thats tough for a phone.

Im not a moto fanboy but alotta people knock the razr, and for general calling purposes it kicks ass. The worst thing its got going for it imo is the phonebook, but even that is not that bad, you just gotta get used to it.

I have a Samsung t809. (picked up a 1GB microSD card for it as well)

Great features and picture/video quality. Just about every feature on this sucker has amazed me.

Sony Ericsson P910i now, before that a P900, and before that a P800..

I'm tempted by the P990, but the whole P series has had one annoying problem (for me on O2 in the UK), and that's that SMS text delivery is somewhat.. random, to say the least.

It's like the phone sometimes 'forgets' it's meant to tell the cell tower that it's alive sometimes, and so it falls off the network until the next time you make a call/make it roam between cells.

Very, very annoying - I've had two SIM cards on two different contracts (so I doubt it's an account or SIM problem), and if I use an ollld Nokia with the same SIM it's flawless.

So I'm wary of shelling out a ton of cash on the P990 and it having the same fault, so I'm tempted to go back to Nokia, maybe.. maybe..

Gah - I only really need a phone that makes calls and texts now, the P series were nice when I needed a mobile office, but I don't anymore..

Although being able to SSH into my *nix boxes on my phone was neat for geek-factor points

An LG Fusic and a Sanyo Katana, yeah that''s right I'll slice you in half with it.
so how do you like the Katana? that's what my son wants. My daughter has the Fusic and she's pretty happy with it.
I also have two Blades, so I'll cut you back

I might get a samsung d820 for free if renew my plan now... anyone have any experience with this particular model?

And how are the samsung cell phones in general? never used one, I'm a nokia lover!

my dad has a samsung flip phone (dont remember model), one of those freebies though...so about a year now its still alive, but whever i touch it i try to be rather careful because the construction quality is rather flimsy.

going a few posts up in regard to the razr, my biggest issue with it is that it can't take any water damage (and thus my #1 reason for not buying it a year ago and going the Vodafone SE V802 route instead). 2 of my friends have killed their razrs by droping them in the toilet (one before, and one after she flushed)...regardless, both phones were recovered (yes even the pre-flush one) and they both had the keyboards die...makes you think. i cannot say how my SE V802 would hold up in similar conditions since i've never dropped it into the toilet....however i dropped my old nokia into a sink with running water and a quick dry later it was as good as new.
