Ew. SPRINT?! Wow. The Katana is made to compete with the Razr, which is a complete piece of garbage. I had a Sanyo phone a while back and it was real nice. I'd think the Katana would be decent... or at least much better than the Razr.

I just picked up a new phone. Sony-Ericsson K800i AWESOMENESS! I bought a Nokia N93 but it was too big and awkward. Still on my neverending quest to find the perfect cell phone

yes Sprint.. what's wrong with them?? This right here will solidify their standing as the broadband wireless champ. I'll put my money on good modern technology like CDMA over the ancient GSM any day..

still would like to know how darkloki likes his Katana..

Yes, we all need broadband on our cell phones

All CDMA has over GSM is its data speeds. Phone selection means more to me than data rates. Add-ons are a rip off.

Tha Katana is great however you can't feel the numberpad, meaning when you dial blindly, which I often do I can't tell what button is what and I often have to look at it. I know this sounds dumb but it's really a problem. When I'm doing other things. I don't know I just hardly ever look at the num pad when dialing, I just feel it and know it.

CDMA has quite a few advantages over GSM and the amount of calls you can fit in your spectrum would be a big one. CDMA is the way of the future and GSM is a dinosaur that needs to be put to rest, but unfortunately can't because most other countries are still stuck in the dark ages and use it...

So the keypad is the only bad thing about the Katana?? I'm sure he can live with that.. I just don't like how it's not as up to date as the other new phones (can't use Power Vision and only has a VGA camera).
then again it's for my son, not me.. is the reception good?? that's a biggy, because where we live sucks for coverage.

We are not the most technologically-advanced nation. The majority of the world uses GSM. Both have theirs ups and their downs, but GSM is the worldwide standard. I can't see CDMA taking over anywhere. I'd give CDMA much more credit if R-UIM ever took off.

If you travel then GSM is for you.

I'll give you that one. My CDMA phone was worthless in Bosnia, but luckily I was issued a GSM cell phone while I worked there. Just sucked that features we're accustomed to here (BT, camera, video, broadband internet etc..) basically don't exist over there. Of course there are exceptions, but pretty much every phone is just that, a phone.. they do SMS a hella lot though, which will be funny when their hands no longer function in about 10 years...

BTW, my son got a Fusic too. It's killing him to have the same phone as his sister, but he likes it..
Also, they have MicroSD cards at Office Depot for only $15 for a 512 Mb card and that's the out the door price, no rebate..
