I'm having a headache with this laptop and the widcomm bluetooth device. Whenever I enable the bluetooth device from the front panel I occasionally get the message "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognise it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message".

Sometimes it will work perfectly normally for days as a time and then poof this comes up for a few days. I've reinstalled Windows several times and restored the machine back to factory settings. It even went back the the Acer UK repair centre, typically they couldn't find anything wrong with it but have agreed to take it back a second time.

I'm using the latest bios 3A23 and at the moment have a week old install of XP Pro. I have tried both the Widcomm and XP Bluetooth drivers but this little devil keeps rearing its ugly head.

I just know that when this goes back to Acer in the morning its gonna behave perfectly and they'll just chuck it back at me with nff! Although I'm planning on insisting they replace the motherboard and the bt device.

I have also wondered if it could just be the device coming 'loose' as I move about with this machine quite a bit.

Ideas and thoughts appreciated.
