Problem with CPU Fans in the 9860

Hi to all,

I have some problems with my CPU fan and maybe I can get some help from you. My problem is, that my 9860 runs every time with around 55° and I think that’s not normal.

At first opened my CPU plate and cleaned the cooler and fans. Than I cleaned the
extender of the CPU and the contact surface of the cooler and did a little point of Artic
Silver V on it, like it explained on the Artic Silver side.

After all that solutions I have the same than before 55°, at idle. I opened my Notebook
on the Keyboard side an look at the fans and I see that only my small fan runs and the
bigger fan twitch. I gave him a start with my finger and he runs.

Than I oiled the fans with special oil and it did not help.

Now my questions:

1.Is it correct that every time two fans runs with all speeds?
2.Have one the same problem?
3.Do you think that new fans help?

I think the fans have not sufficient power and that make my problem not easier (

Greatings and sorry for my bad English

theere was a big thread on this a long time ago, the controller does not give it enough voltage to start up. Try this:

1. Initiate turbo fan mode and then knock the speed back down
2. Blast it with compressed air

Hi raffratz, I wonder if you could help me out, In your post you say you have a 3.4 650 CPU. I have a clevo d900t (9860) with a 3.4 550 CPU and im thinking of getting a 650 because of the 64bit and lower thermal rating but im not sure if i would need a new motherboard, could you tell me what version motherboard you have you can tell by looking at the sticker on the ram slot mine says v4.1A

Thanks for any help

I have this same problem and don't see anywhere in bios to change fan settings. What MB bios and KB bios are you running. I just bought a lapcool4to try and cool it down.

Thanks

Raffratz:

Oooold problem. Use GetThermal, search in this Forum, I made some kind of a manual. Otherwise you will always have to use FN+F2 - have fun.

... for my understanding is, that you can use with all the 9860 Sager the
EM64T CPU.
I install my CPU with my first Bios Version but you have to install the newest to see the 2MB Cache of the CPU.
My Notbook work fine and it is 1 Year old. I had install Windows XP 64 for a
longer time but it was not my best idea. I had many Problems to get right
Software at that time, like burning software.
Many software, that use the 64 bit driver had problems. But it was for four month ago and it perhaps better now.

Here a Temp in warm room about 25° and the following runnig prgramms:

Opera with E-Mail
Outllook
MS Internet Explorer
eDonkey
CPU usage 25% - 30% = 48°

With Artic Silver V

Thanks
I have update the Bios in the newes version see sager page and downlad
the new fan bios here in this forum called H8S8 and than the fans start
every time with full speed an fall back to the low speed.
Tha solve your problems and you can switch all the speed level with
the "Fn F2" key.

Modes are:
Atomatic
Continous
The hell of Power ;o)
