upgrade to pentium 650 cpu

Hi all could some one please help

I have the clevo d900t (9860) with motherboard version V4.1A
With a pentium 4 550 3.4ghz, but id like upgrade to the newer pentium 4 650 3.4ghz CPU could anyone tell me if this is possible

Of course it is. But I doubt it will change things. 64bit Windows is not a system to be happy with yet.

Thanks for the reply Eingang

I wanted to upgrade not for the 4gb memory that would be possible or for the 64bit version of xp but mainly for the lower thermal rating of the 600 series and (EIST) enhanced intel speed step function. Also the extra 1mb of level 2 cache would be nice . Im not to worried about the (DEP)
Data Execution Prevention , but when Vista comes out it would be nice to get the 64bit version as by then there should be some worth while 64bit and games out.

... you can't use EIST with your 9860 and the max memory is 2 GB i think.
It is a limitation of the chipset.

Do you know why you cant ue EIST on the 9860 is it because it needs to be implemented in the bios?
I would very much like to know as this is the main reason im thinking about getting the 600 series
Have you got a pentium 4 6xx in your 9860 if anyone else has would you please let me know

how come the manual doesn't say the 9860 can take any 6xx procs?
