i9100 Scores

3dMark03
Stock (445/265) - 3427
O'C (499/297) - 4174
Using Stock ATI Catalyst 4.7 Drivers

3dMark01 (I have NEVER hit under 10k)
Stock - 10862
O'C - 13822

These scores were impossible to get with the standard "Dell" install. I installed the system fresh and applied all updates INCLUDING XP SERVICE PACK 2 BETA. This update increased my system performance nicely as it has a fix for the P4's HyperThreading capabilities.

When you get drivers for your machine, ALWAYS try to get your drivers from the Chipmaker (i.e., INTEL, ATI, etc.) as they tend to have newer drivers than Dell's so-called drivers. Intel has a newer chipset driver than Dell that helped a bit. There is usually ALWAYS a better driver somewhere... this can be maddening...

Finally, start turning ALL non-essential stuff off, MSCONFIG, Services, Sys Restore, Auto Updates, NORTON, NORTON, NORTON, and once again, NORTON... hee hee. Figure out exactly how i do it and you'll be at the top of Futuremark's online result browser's list for the iXPS, 9100 too!!!! (i did it last thursday...YAY!!!)

...oh and as far as NORTON... it is a great utility suite. Shut down ALL of the automatic crap because if you are in this thread, you should know how NOT to get a virus and how to scan manually. This will take SOOOO much load off your system.

Just my $.02

I got a 6600 @ 1024 x 768 x 32 res and default settings which was 4x af and no aa iI believe. At the same res and with 2x aa enabled I got a 5300 and both marks are 3dmark03. Then I got above 43.1k in Aquamark3. This is all stock no overclocking at all. I have a Dell XPS with a 256 mb mobility 9800 chip.

benched with self-modded 4.2
(ati catalyst 4.2 + mobility mod w/ dh modtool + overclocking restriction unlock w/ rivatuner + ati catalyst 4.9b opengl portion)

With some tweaking, I have new results.... see sig..

Hmm

That score seems awfully high for a 9700 and awfully low for a 9800.

Most 9700's do 3400 and most 9800's do 6400....

If that's a 9800 score you didn't do enough tweaking (Doesn't appear to be) and if it's a 9700 score I'd be interested in how you did it.

My 9700 does 3400 stock and 4200 @ 530/630. I suppose with some tweaking and maybe with a cooling mod you could get higher than 530/630 but you'd have to go quite a bit higher to get an additional six hundred points.

I clocked my core up 130mhz and my memory up 55mhz and got eight hundred points.

3DMark03 2250 Seems low compared to others. How can I improve this without OC'ing? In order to OC, what would be best route?

3dmark03: 3417

specs below, except only had 512 ram in it during test.

3D Mark 2003:

Latitude D600 (Banias 1.3 GHz, Radeon 9000, 32 MB, 64 bit memory):

321 with 512MB DDR266 (2.5-3-3-6) @ 60 Hz
650 with 512MB DDR266 (2.0-2-2-5) @ 100 Hz

Precision M60 (Dothan 1.6 GHz, Radeon 9600, 128 MB, 128 bit memory):

2860 with 512MB DDR333 (2.5-3-3-6) @ 60 Hz

My system locks up with the stock settings of the Radeon 9600, so I lowered the frequency from 337/243 MHz to 293/193 MHz and it works fine now.
