Travelmate 4404 question

Thread Starter
I was thinking about buying the Travelmate 4404 but I wasn't sure how well it runs games. I saw that it has an ATI X700 but it only has 64mb of dedicated memory. Would that be able to run games such as Call of Duty 2, or Half Life 2 at decent settings smoothly?
Note this is not MAINLY for gaming, but that will be a good portion of what i use it for. The job I have requires a lot of travel, so when I am in my hotel room I just want to plug into the wall and play some of the newer games I just want to know it will be able to handle it smoothly.

Or if you guys have any other good reccomendations for laptops, I am trying to stay below or slightly about $1,300

Thanks for your help

From what I have played so far on my 4404 wmli the games have been stunning. Call of duty 2 runs awesome with no tweaking. As for the other games i dont know but it has played all the games i have installed on it with no problems at all. In my opinion the x700 64mb is right on par with a geforce 6000gt pci express card for a desktop. Which in my opinion is pretty damn sweet for a notebook.

The machine is certainly capable of running the games. I have Half Life 2 and I use the recommended settings it puts (mostly all high, at 800x600) and i get very fluid gameplay.

Call of duty i have only played the demo a while back, but i remember it ran good enough.

It should run most games ok, i even play Fear at mediums settings with constant fluid gameplay.

Just take note that due to the low video memory, and overall (and not sure why) less capable X700 (compared to other x700 of 64mb) you should play at 800x600 for fluid gameplay. you can play at higher, but some games might run too slow. For example Doom 3 i play it on high and 1024 just to see the graphics, it runs ok but at 800x600 runs much faster.

Im not sure why the X700 of this lap scores less than the other x700, but i suspect it might be underclocked and might have heating issues or something related, like it auto underclocks to reduce temps or something.

My 3d mark 03 with my TM 4402, was 4404 marks(lol) No overclocking
and the 3d mar 05 was around 1200.

max 3dmark 03 achieved was near 5k, with Overclocking.

*Note that i have a gig of memory and a 7200rmp drive, which might help in the gaming area a little bit more than the standard TM4404 since i dont know its specs.
