Processor is dead

My processor in my 8887 died on me. Guess it overheated one too many times. I am looking into buying a new one. I had the Pentium 3.06Ghz. I have since moved to using a desktop, and use my laptop when I travel. I am wondering what processor would be better.

A 3.06 Ghz Cleron http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819112199

or

2.8 Ghz Pentium

I figure these are half the price of the original 3.06 Pentium. The only downside I see is no Hyper-threading. That is not bad though since I did not have hyper-threading enabled.

Let me know what you all think.

Yeah, I'm not really sure either. I'd email tech support and see if they can suggest options.

I did some more research and found the right one. http://www.starmicro.net/detail.aspx?ID=121 I guess good ole Newegg doesn't sell these old beasts.

Thanks for the sanity check guys.
