Yep, the all powerful Pan-Acer Group sure includes a lot of companies. I wonder if other ODMs are under such an umbrella.

Hey Devast, do me and favor and tell me if your notebook reports how much battery is leftover in % or time.

Mine reports it in % and that's not too useful to me.

same here. If you find a way to change it, or a utility, let me know. Time remaining would be much more useful

I'm fairly certain you wont find the time remaining on the power icon. Battery life for a given charge is dependant on how the computer is used (gaming, surfing, watchin a movie, ect). I doubt the power indicator is taking any of that into account. Kinda like hoping the gas meter tells you how many miles are in the tank instead of how many gallons.

I've owned many laptops and both my old HP and Toshiba's reported the leftover battery in terms of time.

My Presario 2810T reports the battery in time as well.

This is the first notebook I have owned that doesn't. But then, this is the first small vendor notebook I've ever owned. I've always owned Toshibas and HPs.

Whoa, I had no idea. My last laptop was a presario 1215US, that one just showed me the battery %. I looked on tucows.com and even looked up the driver support page on the 2810T, but found nothing.

I'm downloading the omega display drivers as we speak. My current drivers are 6.14.10.6392 9/2/2003. The omegas are better, eh?
doesn't the non-secular nature of the Omega drivers kind of put you off?

From my review I stated I never had a laptop w/ decent battery life. Well.... just want to announce that today I experienced something very new !.Because of the snow here in NYC, my boss told me not to come in. So figured I'd spend some time working on this flash project. At the same time I didn't want to be stuck in the apartment, so figured, let me try working at barnes and noble like I see people do all the time. But the amazing thing isn't that I did my work at B&N, which was kinda cool to work in a casual public setting, I also did something today I thought I would never do before..... I LEFT THE APARTMENT WITHOUT MY LAPTOP'S POWER ADAPTER!!!! OMG! just my laptop and my mouse in my bag!!!! I have to say, It felt weird, I've always brought the power adapter with me before.... just one of those habits i have to learn to break. Anyways... set the laptop on portable/laptop and when I finished my work in an hour and a forty five minutes, I still had over 60%!!! battery remaining!

Anyways, was cool to work in public w/o a power adapter

Any other laptop friendly places asides coffee shops, and bookstores that people know of? I'm new to the "Battery LIFE"STYLE. lol

Haha. Try a college campus.

Bought F2 notebook to class for 1 1/2 hours for web browsing and a little NFS Underground (ok, the prof. was boring). Then a little word processing for an hour while we had a meeting. Then more web browsing and mp3's while I do a project for an hour, and I still had ~38% battery left.

HOWEVER, my roommate claims that he gets 4 1/2 hours w/ his Compaq x1000 when he takes it to class.

I used to do work at the Starbux at Cooper Union. That was cool! Sadly, I couldn't do much work due to poor batt life before... Now with my new lappy I can join the mobile life style!

Thats really nice.

But whats more nice is that if you ever need an extra battery they are pretty cheap. The price of a spare/extra battery in Norway is aprox $110USD, thats is EXACTLY half the price of what an extra battery for my old laptop costs!

I just LOVE it..

oh, no.. IM LOVING IT!

Another thing, my fan seems to run a bit often. Just for 1 sec at full speed then throtles down totalling about 3-4 seconds on, when using Windows at CPU max speed.

This happens every 7 minutes or so

Is that normal?
I don't recall my fan being on that frequently. Did you install the Hotfixes? There have been 2 windows HotFixes that are supposed to address Pentium M problems with heat and battery life in WinXP.
